Looking back at 'Believe'

So I went and saw The Massive. I made sure my hands were busy with uninterupted drinks so it all meshed into an absurd mash of ski porn pillow bonk ... silliness. And I kept waiting for the reggae to change... not that there's anything wrong with that.

Then I decided I better catch up on Believe to better ground myself in contemporary skiing. First I was reluctant... then I couldn't get any work done because Believe is so goddamn good. The point I want to get to though is the Pettit's inbounds Whistler seg. All that big mtn they ride is LIFT ACCESSED at Whistler. How many ski movies can still pull that off? Nobody rides easy access lines anymore. If you don't have sleds or a heli budget you might as well just quit and go sell weed in the village. And they make it look good and fresh, you've gotta rewind most of it to pick out all the old tracks and whatnot. But that just blows my mind... I guess it shouldn't. It's old school right? But so sick. Kthanksbye.

yeah josh, i was stoked on believe. i think moreso than le massive. massive was good, but not BELIEVE good.

ye Believe was sick, one of my favourites. I was hoping The Massive would top it, but it didn't. i still enjoyed The Massive though, but I'd rather watch Believe.

the skiing in massive was absurd. but believe was a better movie i think.... and actually, retallack, whistler, baker... all inbounds footy and places you can go. definitely some ch 7 trees shots at baker, i think theres a hit under ch... 2?... some fraggle, lone pine, unnamed glacier chair cliff at whistler... thats smart. i would hope resorts pay better for that kind of thing.

How many ski movies can still pull that off? Nobody rides easy access lines anymore.

Every TGR Movie has at least a 5 minute all JH segment plus tons of Jackson footy scattered in everyone's part.

very few of that is actually inside of the boundary tape.

yes there were some 7 trees in believe but a good chunk was in the trees below road shot, out side of the ski area, I think.

So many people hated on Believe but its still one of my favorite skis movies. Its just total rediculousness and everyone in it just kills it.

awesome vibes through the video too...i like how the mood is always changing because when the turbulance segment hits, i just get sooo amped up!

the baker segment in Believe was all filmed within the boundary's of the ski resort during what could be one of the heaviest november snowstorms in recorded history. That place is so ominous, the vibe is serious hardcore shredding.

yea most of the baker stuff looked like it was just off chair 7. that was the most incredible thanksgiving break. i personally liked believe more than the massive. sooo much good riding.

I think Believe is one of the best ski movies I've ever seen. It brings the stoke like no other.
The Massive was good, but I thought that every song being reggae was a little tiresome, and it just didn't flow as well as Believe.

I agree with Josh on this. There was good skiing in the Massive, great skiing in fact, but Believe was a MUCH better movie. I wouldn't even put the Massive close to it. I have to say coming from Believe, plus a ton of hype, I was let down by the Massive.

I also watched it immediately after That's It, That's All, and it's pretty hard for anything to come even close to that movie. Perhaps I should see it again with Believe.

Me too. I bet I was at the same premiere as you. UBC? That's it that's all blew The Massive out of the water. I felt almost embarrassed.

massive: is missing doubles; has too much reggae-- it's a good genre, but its one good genre; has cheesy reality parts; has a 3-pete of tanner's wall ride to back ful,l half twist out (yah it's his tramp steeze). But overall it's still an amazing film. I'd rate it equal to Believe.

yeah but hot lunch wasn't a full length, big-buget movie. it was just some sick thing that anthony and co. tossed together. and was sick.

Believe was definitely sicker. Massive was alright, but I was expecting more since believe was so good. Believe's vibe just makes you want to go ski, since its stuff that you can do personally. That's one thing that I dislike with MSP movies, always shit that I couldn't possible do/afford myself.

The filming in Believe really hit close to home for me. I can see myself riding that shit, and it got me so stoked!

and people called loved it generally, yeah? a throwback to what skiing should be about. plenty of nimbus was inbounds too. i guess the question shouldve emphasised more the questino of WHO is actually getting back to filming inbounds. cause it works.

Tanner throws the biggest double back i have ever seen in Retallack. The reggae is great and adds to the great feel of the movie. I personally liked the small reality parts because it reminds me of the older ski films. The editing and footage was excellent. I would say that the Massive is the best ski movie i have ever seen.
Tanner Halls movies have the best vibe. They really get me stoked and they just get better each year!

^ hahah, tears for fear?

but fo real, this is my favorite movie. period. out of any movie. and genre.

Believe was so sick. I can't wait to see the massive, i'm kinda happy that their will not only be some powder.
