Wow, Defi hasn't been active on here in a while. I remember when it was all over the forum months ago. I guess that dude was really serious about the "Defi Skeez" thing.

Some kid had this big dream of starting his own ski company. And Defi is his creation... everyone thought it was fake (including me), but apparently this dude is for real. I mean why else would he make a prototype or anything unless he really was.
 
this is weird. i never thought id ever see anything about defi posted on here again...but there they are, the first pair of protos --finally. not gonna lie...for a while i thought i was a joke too. but i had created something and i just couldnt let it die
 
I got a defi sticker from enom for some reason so i put it on my poles cause I hear defi is going into the pole business too!

Tell us about the prototypes! What kinds of trouble did you have making them? What do was the cost of materials alone? How do you expect they will perform? What will you do differently for the next pair?
 
im happy that some people are interested. i spent a few months researching and designing the protos as far dimensions, tip/tail height, and construction go. then the manufacturer took a long time to get the tooling for the mold done...but yeah the site will be up again soon with all information on it.
 
actually dfi snowboards are not pissed. cmon do you honestly think id continue with a company without checkin out all the possible problems i might encounter. the owner of dfi snowboards was totally cool. we're both totally different companies with totally different markets and strategies. He didnt see a reason why we couldnt both grow together. and yes those are protos and there will be graphics later.
 
and im sure you have made better skis right? Ive never heard of this company before but what is the point of talking shit? If it was up to people like you we would still be riding 210 straight skinny skis because you downtalk anyone willing to try something new.

well our markets differ obviously cuz dfi is in the snowboard industry and defi is in the ski industry although we both find ourselves in the snow industry. strategies being how we market out product. they specifically market their product toward riders while defi is obviously marketing their product toward freestyle skiers, since we are just a ski company. and no these are not final grapchis. the topsheet you see is just clear.
 
Um actually i have had much better skis custom made for me and iam pretty sure that vthose looked like they suck not becuase of the lack of graphics but becuase of the design and that horrible looking core. I am also pretty sure that a company run by a 12 or 13 year old is not going to produce anything of quality.
 
Those look pretty good. I've made my own skis too, but have no plans of starting a company or anything, it was just for fun and got me a job at K2.
 
I really have no idea why half of you people insist on flicking this kid shit. He made skis. I'd rock those protos (clear top sheet and all) any day. They don't look bad, it's different. Here is a kid that wants to create a business that benefits himself as well as the entire ski industry. After all, if he does things right, he's not hurting you in any way. In fact, he's giving you even more options on which skis to buy next year.

Line skis was an idea Jason Levinthal had at one point and time. And from that idea he has created a highly successful business.

A co-worker of my mother's was, some years ago before the age of Windows, associated with William Gates. Gates approached John Sybill regarding a computer operating system completely different from anything that existed. John thought he was crazy and turned down the possible partnership. Bill Gates is now the richest man in the world. John Sybill on the other hand still drives a Honda Accord everyday to work.

This may be an exageration. But don't doubt this kid. Give him fucking props for trying to make things work. After all, how are you going to feel if Defi skis is successful someday? How would you feel to be John Sybill or somebody that put J Lev down when he was trying to start Line? I'd feel like a cunt and you should too.

give this new ski company or whatever the hell it is a chance it could go big like armada and 4frt did so dont give him shit yet cause u might be skiing a pair of them next year.....
