Look pivot heel rings snapping.... It must be fixed.

I have personally lost two pivot heel pieces due to the steel ring snapping, and have heard several stories from friends about the exact same piece breaking and then getting into nasty falls because of it. The brakes remain on the ski but the entire rotating part just falls off.

How has this not been addressed by the company yet? Will they not have a large lawsuit on their hands if someone blows a heelpiece in a technical line and fucking dies? It seems wrong to me that they continue to sell bindings that randomly explode.

But the recall is for models only produced from day a to day b. I have had the exact same issue as OP (and none of my pivots were made in that timeframe). Tbh i think its not like insanely dangerous and a lawsuit is OTT. However, it is frustrating having to buy 2 sets of pivots or brakes every fucking season. Same exact thing breaks every time and it always happens when im in the woods smoking doinks

Same thing happened to me this season on a pair that was less than a season old. I have seen it on one other pair this season and have heard about four other instances just in south lake this season. I saw one competitor in slvsh lose because his heel ring broke. Rossi warrantied them for me and swore up and down that this was an isolated incident. If they are out of warranty, I believe it is a 50-80$ part. The ski tech in the shop I use says it has been somewhat common with the silver metal ring. I did not have a problem with my black ring fks bindings. I am done with pivots. I will be trying sth bindings next. My confidence has been shaken in rosi bindings. If you have them, keep an eye on the 90* bend in the metal, that’s where mine broke.

If this or a lawsuit somehow leads to them discontinuing the pivot again I am going to be fucking pissed. Every binding on the market can randomly explode if you ski hard.

yep. i think people saying lawsuit etc are kooky. it will never happen. If i go through a few brakes a season and still use pivots its shows that they are better than anything else durability wise. it would be nice if they warrentied this stuff better but anything else is excessive

Yeah they do kind of suck at the moment. We see far far more broken pivots then any other binding currently. They need a redesign to adress the issues. Hopefully it gets done soon.

Seems to be happening much more on this year's model....did they use a different metal? I have a lot of pivots and never had an issue....ranging from the 155s to the green 18s....seems like they may have changed something?

I dont know for sure, but seemingly since they switched to just Look, they have had the issue. I have seen so many in the last couple of seasons. It sucks as I love them but they do not have even ok durability currently.

I got some orange FKS 180’s on sale in like 2016 right before they were discontinued. Couldn’t be happier with them, and haven’t broken anything yet.

Is it an issue happening on the wtr bindings or across the board? Has anyone had this issue on pivot 180’s? Maybe with a heelpiece redesign could come removable brakes so I don’t have to unscrew the base of the herlpiece from the ski and pay $70 for a new one every time I eject switch...
