Look Pivot Dilemma

Hey, my friend traded me a brand new pair of look pivot 18 130s for an old pair of skis i had, and I want to mount them on my J skis whipits... the whipits are 90 under foot and I don't know if that is too thin for the bindings or not

note the brakes stick out maybe half an inch to an inch on each side on the ski

thanks

Definitely too wide. I believe you can have a thinner brake installed though.

And what kind of jumps are you hitting that require 18 din bindings?

he won them in a raffle and he needs new skis, and I need new bindings, so we traded my old skis for his brand new bindings, the lowest din is 8 which is chyll so I took him up on the trade

40mm difference seems like it would be way too much

Your brake arms should be no wider than 15mm more than the ski width otherwise they're just gonna get really bent and messed up.

Get new brakes:http://www.untracked.com/p5556c82b97-look_rossignol_fks_pivot_brakes.html - 95mm is what you want.

Skied a whole season on 92mm skis with 132mm brakes. They tangled a couple times but it's definetly feasible trust me.

Just don't plan on doing any Cubans

Or skiing switch

Yeah skiing switch with brakes that wide on a ski that skinny would be sketchy unless you bent the brakes up quite a bit.

Pretty dope trade, although the optimal binding is one where your din is set in the middle of the din range. (Ex: If you set your din at 8 or 9, a 14 din binding is ideal.)

Can you get them in any size?

Yep. I bought a brand new pair of FKS140's with 130mm brakes cause they were only $150. Called Rossi and ordered a pair of 95mm brakes and they came in like 10 days

awesome, did you get them for less than $75? thats the cheapest I've found em for

pull the binding off the brake/turntable assembly. using a torch ( the yellow gas one, not the blue, heat the brakes up until red hot and then bend them straight. make sure you have a bucket of water to cool them fast or else they wont stay strong. then do it again and bend them to the correct width. If you have to, you can shorten the overall brake length.

Do you still have the 130mm brakes?
