Look pivot 15 adjustment limit

I just bought skis that have look pivot 15s on them. They are drilled for BSL of 295 and my boots are 310. Would I be able adjust the bindings to fit the boots or do I have to re-drill the bindings?

it depends. there are limited adjustments with only the heel piece. its pretty easy to adjust the 2 screws but when in doubt take it to you local shop and they should be able to tell ya in 5 mins
 
Take it to a good shop some people don’t know what they’re doing with pivots. Or watch a lot of videos and figure it out yourself. Always better to not be at the mercy of a stranger.
 
re drill for sure.

Pivots have 10mm of adjustment/2=5 mils in either direction if they were mounted in the center of the arms.

in all reality after forward pressure adjustment on a pivot youre probably looking at some mix. Its almost never directly in the center. Probably like 8 mils forward 2 back, or 3 mills forward and 7 back.
 
Adjust them to your boots, get fp set and post pics of the adjustment screws from the side. They should be just tight enough that it takes a good amount of effort to turn the heel with the boot in binding. If threads are exposed then you def need to redrill but you may still have to depending on how far out they are. I went from a 297bsl to a 307 and it worked fine but they were mounted for the lower limit of 297 leaving plenty of room to go bigger.

ehhh, probably not. in my experience, I would guess it is a remount.

take it to a shop, they will tell you for free.
 
Ghetto remount in 9 easy steps

1- Take the heels off

2- measure 1cm below the original holes

3- mark said holes

4- acquire a gun

5- go to ski shop and steal drill bits at gun point

6- hit your bong

7- drill holes

8- spit in said holes

9- screw heels in

I'm planning to buy Pivot 15s with Cast for my next set of skis. My resort boots and touring boots are 1mm apart in BSL. Is it reasonable to expect that I can swap between them without adjusting forward pressure every time? I've heard that pivots have less wiggle room than most bindings

often times the listed BSL on your boot is off by +/- 1-2mm so all depends. click both of them in and see if she goes

Yup. It's going to be by the boot call there. Worst comes to worst it's a quarter screwdriver turn

I went from a 305 rossignol to a 304 k2. In my case I had zero issues. None of my forward pressures changed and the boots snapped in without any issues.

just depends on how far apart your brands actually are

The answer to this is actually a lot more complicated than it should be. In theory the little white tab under the heelpiece should be the indicator for adjustment- but I along with others have sometimes found the tab to be rubbish. YMMV.

Since its just 1mm, do be one small turn/click on each arm every time to properly adjust. You probably dont need to, but since you will have to swap out the AFDs every time anyways (assuming your touring boots are ISO 9523), doesnt hurt and doesnt take any time to just turn the screw one click.

If you dont have ISO 9523 Touring soles on your touring boots, Then theres no real point in swapping boots out anyways.

Also, CAST 1.0 is not compatible with ISO 9523, so keep that in mind. And The freetour 2.0 upgrade kit is sold out until next fall, so keep that in mind too.

What boots do you have for both in bounds and touring?

I have 2024 Lange LX120 for inbounds and 2022 Atomic Hawx XTD Prime 130 for touring. They both have gripwalk soles and the Hawx seem generally pretty compatible, but i can't find the ISO standards on their website

Is there something special about the AFD on pivots/freetour that makes it less adjustable? I'm used to working with Attacks where the AFD can be adjusted for alpine or GW soles

The Pivot AFDs are not adjustable whatsoever. They have a fixed height, as does the toe piece. The Cast AFDs are the same but swappable.
 
The Hawx XTD Prime has GW soles so youre all good- you can disregard pretty much everything i said. They will use the same AFD. I would still recommend adjusting a single click for swapping them though
