Hey does anyone know why dave crichton and other dynastar team members were skiing on brand new looking ten year old look bindings? You know, The old ones with the salomon type triangular one piece toe and old turntable. My friend's dad has a pair, and Im thinking of putting them on my madtrix 181s? Should I?

Thanks for the pic, do you know if shops still mount these? If not, where can I get a drill jig for these? Are they metal or plastic? what advantages do they have that makes sponsored pros want them over new look bindings? How old are they?

probably because bindings these days are heavy pieces of shit with all kinds of risers and dampers and bullshit to make sucky skiiers just a little less sucky.

the pros wnt um becasuse of the high din setting and they r all meatal so tehre industructable. a favorite among ski bums becasuse they last so long

 
You can also see if you can get your hands on some rossi pro 180's, I just picked a pair of those up for $40 that were on some trashed 9x's. These things are bomb proof.

they actually arent 10 years old. they are the look Z race bindings. they are they race stock bindings look mades, so i dont suggest trying to mount up 10 year old bindings unless you are really sure it's what you want

Well, my dad try'd to have some old salomon bindings mounted on his new skis, and the shop said they weren't allowed to mount them because of some liability bullshit over how old they are.

So Your saying your brother had a shop mount them, right?

 
a shop will usually never throw out a jig. If they sold or mounted the binding at one point, chances are they still can.

A look authorized binding installer will be able to tell you if they are still indemnified by Look which would determine whether or not they may install them...

As far as i know, a shop only won't mount a binding if there's a piece missing or something cuz then if you get hurt you could blame it on them. My local shop wouldn't touch my dad's old Rossi 4s's because that stupid little teflon piece was missing on one of the bindings.

we won't mount a binding if it is non-indemnified by the manufacturer or if it is not functional ie. missing stuff or will not pass the required release and funtion tests. Non-indemnified usually just means it's an old binding or they have had problems with it...

those bindings are the look ZR series. they are a world cup binding with a din of either 7-17 or 8-18 the reason the pros like them so much is that they have crazy good retension annd there bombproof if ur good and u can find a pair buy em. they re available at www.skiandsnowboards.com they may not be on the site but if u call we have them in stock we also have the jig to mount them.
