Look NX bindings toe piece movement

Hi,

I got back to skiing after few years and bought a new Rossingol set with Look bindings. The first bindings moved a lot. The store checked the adjustements and eventually got a replacement pair because they had no idea what caused the movement.

I got the skies back today and tested them out. The other binding does the same, not that much but still visible and funky feeling when leaning back. It feels like the binding is giving up but eventualyl stops after moving few millimeters.

Im sure my previous set did not do this. Is this normal or not?

The store personel had never seen anything similar neither did the Rossingol/Look manager they contacted for the new pair.

Link to the video where the toe piece is visible moving up and down. You can also lift it by hand. Adjustements should be fine and it happens with other boots also.

Looks like something is up with the toe wings. I'd back out the DIN screw until the whole spring assembly drops out, then make sure there's no debris or any obvious problems that could cause the vertical movement.

I brought them back to the shop so the professionals can figure it out. I might just have bad luck since the they had no clue what is wrong in the first place. Tho one of my friends said it might be because my boots are older and the bindgins might be with grip to walk settings and that might cause the gap.

Could be sole compatibility, if you could post your boot that will tell us.

But that style of system binding tends to have a bit of slop anyway

It usually goes away once you have a boot in though? I have a few pairs of kids skis with system bindings and a pair of nx10? 11? (on a pair of tween skis) that don't have much if any slop once properly adjusted.

Went back to the store today and we tested the bindings with 3 different type of boots, 5535, grip walk and WTR(?) I assume. All of those had the same problem and only with the other binding. The other one is fine for some reason.

There is no adjustment screw for choosing the right boot standard. DINs and other adjustments seem to be fine etc. They contacted the Rossingol country manager again today. I will hear from then in the next few days hopefully.

If they truly are broken it's weird that I have two sets of bindings that both do that. Maybe the third will be fine.. or i will have to do lottery atleast.

My boots are 5535 but the bindings should go with pretty much every boot standard. We also tested 3 different type of boots, all had the problem.
