Ya it looks like alot of progression to you because you guys are in on the sport, and know all the small variances. Any outsider who doesnt ski wouldnt be any more impressed with some of todays trailers over that one, slightly im sure but not alot. Alot of other sports have progressed alot too lately but you just dont notice because youre not into them and really cant tell all teh small differences.

 
yeah obviousley now everyone refers to twintip skis as "twintips," but back when they first came out in the late 90s i was like, what the hell are twintips?

Come on already, people where ski bumming it and living the same lifestyle that you all hope to live back in the 70s. They "hot dogged" it up, while smoking crazy amounts of weed and snorting piles of blow. The 70s freestyle scene was as sexy and as gnarly as anything today. I look at the pictures my dad has from Squaw back in the mid 70s...it was nutz, they skied and aprtied and lived the sport...

those bros from back in the day look at us newschool groms as both carrying their torch and also to some extent jumping on a media band wagon...the term sell-out is often used to describe the modern pro-ho wannabe.

But that said, not much has changed in 30-years, we are not that cool and to think different is ignorant and very short sighted.

 
^ I have to agree, 70's freestyler or "hotdoggers" partied harder than any of the crowd now. Mostly because unprotected sex and drugs weren't bad for you then, but things haven't changed much from then, just new clothes and new tricks, same sport, hopefully a similar attitude.

I watched that video clip from this thread and my old golf buddy Tim Mckeever is the guy in the pipe, he used to ski for salomon and was in a few warren miller flicks...
