longer skis

hey I've noticed that lots of the pros and ppl on this site use skis like 4 inches over there head in the park and pipe. so who out there uses longer skis? do they give u any trouble in the pipe or park? whats the pros/cons?

yay for skiing

longer skis are just better, i can go faster, and every trick looks better on a 180+ well depending on your height of course. I think tall guys on short skis are just glorified skiboarders.

I am about an 8, i will sit next to a girl that is a 6 and drink till she is a 10 and then bring her home

I dunno, it all depends, short skis in park and pipe are understandable, but anywhere else bigger is better

ya it does depend on yer height...cuz IM like 5'7' and still growing. and Im trying to think of wich leght of the Scratch to get.

yay for skiing

I ski on 180's and I'm 5'11. they work just fine for me. I wouldn't want to go any shorter, or longer for that matter.

Yeah, I ride 161s and Would really like something a bit longer in the 170 size or so.

i just bought some 167 1080s off a friend for cheap, and if they dont work out, i can get a slightly used pocket rocked setup with 912s for 450..i will ski my 1080s first

Yeah I used to own a pair of the Line 1260's and the sucked balls. I think they were size 165' or something like that and I was around 5'8. The only thing they were good for was soinning but they looked so gay bcause they were so small. They looked just like skiboards. Anyways I had trouble skiing out of the park with them, I couldn't even turn in powder over 5 inches. So I sold these pieces of crap to someone else and I bought my first pair of real twin tips , the Concepts size 180 2 years ago. As soon as I steped into them I felt as though I could ski anything. i could go super fast, I could go huge of any jump and actually stick the landing and could ski pow, which was a big +. anyway's I think that longer skis are better, but thats just my opinion. Now Im like 6'1 so I need a longer ski. I just got the new pair of concepts this year and I cant wait to ride on them. So If you agre with some of the things I have said go with a longer ski, it will help alot in the long run. Go with the Concepts!

i ski 184 cm skis i will probily never ski anything shorter then 180

Alcohol the cause and solution to all lifes problems.

seeing how u said concepts reminded me of something. to anyone in Ottawa Olympic has a bunch of candids and concepts from last year in sizes 180 and i65 (i think its 165). the candids are only $399, and the concepts are $349, its a hella good deal

im 5'11' and I ski the scratch BC 188 and the scratch fs 180, the 180 feels tiny, but it goes up a little above my head. A ski that doesn't go up to your eyeballs at least isn't worth getting. Smaller skis are pussy sticks. longer skis make some tricks harder, but they look way better.

i have 180 that i ride most of the time. short skis aren't as versitile as longer skis. short skis in pow or going off a big table suck ass

if you have experience with stuff that long, you can do whatever you want...it takes more effort to spin them, but that's just a pussy shit excuse to get short skis!!

i take back what i said... i just like longer skis. its personal preferance, some like short, others like long. i guess its just whatevr you find to be the most suitble

im thinking of getting 178 concepts but they only have a waist of 72mm, so does that affect skiing in pow that much, cause they would be pretty long for me

i'm 5'4' should i go with 160's or 170's?

I saved Latin, what did you do?

fo for longer skis, u get more ski for the money. short means it cost less to make but u pay the same....is that fair, i think not....by the long ones and then cut them in half, and u will have 2 skis!

I have never owned a pair of skis shorter than 180cm. I am 6'4', the first pair I ever owned were 180, last year I got some concepts that were 180. I am on Scratch BC's in 188. they are shorter than me, but they don't make em any longer. Short skis suck and fat skis truck.

but yu are ski jumping. I would like to see you do anything, but go straight on them. in the air or on the ground.

im 5'8'' , 145 pounds should i go with 169's or 179's??

I thought the skis made you good. I got the skis and it turned out I was wrong. It must be the clothes.

im about 5'9' and my all mountain/mogul skis are like 170cm but my park skis are 165cm...not much of a difference, but you can feel the length and weight difference when you switch back and forth like mid-day. i think long skis look mad nice when you cross them up in a spin, but i feel a lot more comfortable in the air with a slightly shorter ski.

i'm like 5'10'ish and ride a 171...but then again all i do is ski bumps groomers and jump/jib so i guess they're perfect for me

personally, i like about to my forehead, for me that's 180, but i was watching mind the addiction, and micah blacks bandits were only at about his eyebrow, so not all pros use really long boards. Its kinda funny how people on this site think that having a longer ski means you're better. a kid that's 5'7' 150 lbs does not need a 174+ ski, it's just way too much unless he's growing. But somehow, people always suggest shit like that.

I ski 193 but It doesn't make me cool. Whatever you ride, it is still skiing. I would much rather see a kid on small skis throwing down and being 'gay'. Then some kid who rides 'cool' skis and is all over the place. Im looking at skis around 180 for the park even though I am tall!

i think shorter skis are easier to work with in the park so if u are still learning a lot then get shorter skis maybe but then again if u start with the longer ones if u ever go shorter u will be that much better, im on a 185 enemy and it feels heavy so im thinkin about going shorter, but im not so sure abuot it cuz of all my all mountain skiing, i only want a shorter ski for in the park, im 6'1 210

I did fine in pow with my 1260s. This year I am going bigger with the Mike Nick pros, but I dont think Id want to go much bigger than that. I dont think skis should be taller than you. Things start looking sloppy then.

180cm is a small ski, remeber the good ol days and how long your skis were then iv still got my 205s around somewhere.

thank god things have changed

Yes the good ole days where the back of your skis take out moguls behind you. I remember my 220 somethings.
