*******LONGER SKI LENGTH????*******

pros:

more effective edge (better for carv ing

more stability

cons:

hard to spin

harder to control

there are more, i will let other fill that in

im 5'8, weigh 125 and ride 179 bluehouse mr's. i used to have a pair of 168 salomon spk's and i would say to go bigger. it just feels more stable i guess, even when you are in the air, it sort of helps you even out your spins and make them slower and more controlled. its not for everybody though.. i would just borrow a friends pair or demo some first.

the only real con is slightly slover spining, longer ones are better for, stabilty on jumps, overall controll, and making you not look like a fool with short skis

long skis totally sucks when you are carrying them. Not fun accidentally hitting someone or breaking something with ur skis.

easier to rail with

this.

unless you are a complete park rat, i'd go with the longer ski. Im 5'8 165 and bought a pair of k2 seths at 179 and in retrospect really wish i got the 189's, longer skis add alot of stability and if your hittin drops and shit the extra tail helps, and in all honestly if you are a solid skier, 10 cm's more isn't going to make the ski that much harder, and after like 2 runs you'll be used to it.

im a little taller, but i ride 161's.. i think its really all about preference. depends on what and how you ski.

I currently ski on 161cm Line Invaders (center mounted) and demoed a

pair of 176cm Armada Pipe Cleaners (mounted 5cm back) the other day,

and definitely felt the benefit of having longer sticks. I could have

even gone longer. I'm 5'11" and 140lbs. and I'm planning on picking up

a pair of 179cm Kung Fujas end of season. Do not fear long sticks!

I loooovvvee a longer ski. I'm skiing on 180 watchlifes this year (from 171 anthems last year, I havent grown), and they are so stable in the air and on rails and skiing switch and skiing forward, and its easier to get bigger spins around, I can still spin onto rails and switch up and everything and the length has only helped me. And it looks way sick to have long skis.

Longer is more better.

Stability all around: speed, jumps, rails(personal opinion), landing

And you look like more of a Badass with long skis

Sort of cons: You cannot spin as fast, but I have trouble stomping landings with short skis. When i went up this weekend I skied my park skis first and landed a few sketchy 540's and 360's (There was no park and I was too lazy to build a nice feature so this was mostly natural shit and jeep trail transitions). I popped into my 183 Gotamas which aren't even center mounted and made all that shit look easy.
