alright so i just want to know what kinds of longboards there are out there and some good companies to look for. my girlfriend talks about longboarding and stuff and i want to get her one as a present... i just dont really know what to get/look at for her.something to just cruise around on i guess. so far ive only looked at sector9 which was recomended by one of my buddies but i figured you guys could hook me up with some info. sorry but i didnt search this in the seachbar. thanks for the help.

landyacts or sector nine is the way to go
 
i have 2 sector 9s... they are nice boards... it kind of depends on what u wanna spend... sector 9 is good for its price but there are waaaaaaay better... if u want top of the line... go with the Loaded Vangaurd... illest board out there.
 
yeah, I'd also say that there are many better options than Sector 9s. Sector 9 is a popular brand, but with a few exceptions (bomb hills, goddess of speed maybe)... the brand is very overrated and the boards are mediocre at best.

Looking in the same price range, Gravity makes better stuff. GF Hurley is another cool brand at a reasonable price point. Other good brands (that may cost a little more, maybe not...depending) are Fibreflex, Landyachtz, Motion, Earthwing, etc. There are some sweet custom brands out there like Longboard Larry, Insect, and Subsonic if you're interested, but that might be a bit excessive. Finally, as someone mentioned before... Loaded boards are a lot of fun, but pricey.

Let us know your budget and what kind of riding the board would be used for, and we should be able to give more specific suggestions.
 
i got the boo.. its realy realy responseive.. but its a rougher ride...id say. comparied to a maple or oak based deck wich is "damper" and softer ride. but it lacks the snap in the turn that the boo alows
 
FUCK S9. its not so much that they are bad decks (thier low end stuff sucks ass, thier higher end shits ok), but the image of them. every single wanna-be poser who can barely stand on um rides around in thier holister longboard shirts, thinkin they are surfer joe. go to silverfishlongboarding.com, and check out some of the indy companies. many offer far better stuff for just slightly more.

Insect, Honey, Earthwing, Kahuna, etc etc. and if you REALLY wanna see the nicest boards on earth, check out wefunks. they are 2 or 3 german engineers who produce some of the sickest preformance slalom and DH boards in the world.

and PS, for cruising, and a begginer, a Vanguard is a BAD deck. they are too flexy for pushing, and the livelyness is likely to be hard to control for her. just a nice traditional surf shape with a slight kick, and a mild flex.
 
i didn't read anything in here, and im not gonna give my normal advice.

what i will tell you though, is that if you like your girlfriend at all and want to see her, don't buy her one. however, if you want to get rid of her, buy her a longboard and she will have new love and forget about you
