Longboards

I'm looking into tryin out this sport, and I have seen some minor discussion with people on here... Anybody want to give me the lowdown on what size board I should get? From everything I've read Sector 9 is the Burton of longboarding, kind of sell-out-ish, but quality. Anybody have anythign worthwhile to tell me?

arbor, heard something about them being made by the same company as sector9 or something though

Thankyou so far, any suggestions on size for a beginner? I used to use a regular skateboard real well, but I am a total beginner on the longboard, little help?

I live in the middle of Pennsylvania, unfortunately, there is no such thing as a local skateshop... anything online for me to check out?

oldschool is the way to go!

i have a sector 9 that is about 4 feet long but i am goin to get one that is like 2.5 or 3 feet, the shorter ones or more for like messin around, longer for just goin fast and bombin hills

My tip is that you visist some of this forums ans read/learn/ask really hardcore guys about wich board you should pick. asking someone on NS wich longboard you should have i just dumb, its like asking wich beef you should have with coke on a vegetarian forum haha... and i think sector9 is alright but faaaaar from the best, sector9´s quality pretty much suck to be honest.

Anyway hope you find what you are looking for in this two forums! :)

Skate 4ever!!!

i personally ride a sector nine goddess pintail, its kinda long though, fun for bombing but sometimes i wish it were a little shorter

my roomate and I have been making homemade longboards for awhile now.

we've made 10 or so thus far.

they have been turning out pretty sick actually.

not too hard to do, either.

it also depends what you want to do with it...like if your just fucking aorund town, get a short whatever, if your carving big hills, get a carving board. If your going to take it to class and all over, get a shorter one. If your towns hilly/flat/goodpavement/bad pavement ... size of board and wheel diamater are all suited for different things. The longer the board = the faster your go for less effort, but also = more of a pain in the ass to haul around.

Peronally I recommend arbor, or sector nine. Sector nine boards dont look as cool as some others, but theyre a great place to start.

obviously everyone has an oppinion. funnest boards are for sure the cosmic series by sector 9. if you just want to play around, get a shorter 'cosmic series' board. they are built with maple and fiberglass - they are cambered and give awsome feedback and a cool feel when you carve. they are super springy and fun to ride - good length to hall around and just have fun with. if you want to be hard core and really cruise, get a longer 'cosmic series' board: the super cruiser. it is 46" long and not only cambered for great carving, but concaved as well to give your toes and heels something to dig into when you really start pushing those turns. i have a super cruiser and have riden some of canyons in utah from logan to salt lake city. i love that board. its also important to get the right trucks and wheels for what you want to do.

oh yeah - haha, and p.s. i don't recomend little cottonwood canyon, even with a full face helmet and other protection - i ended up in the hospital a few days after a wreck getting infection scrupped out of hamburger meat wounds in my side. that canyon owned me.

Roadrash fucking sucks, i hate it so much, i have so many scars from road biking and eating shit, they suck so much. I have them on my hip/upper thigh/side, both elbows, both sides of my knees, one forearm

ha- i hear ya man. the funny thing is that i was sliding across the canyon road at like mach 10 and it ripped the butt out of my pants and unmentionables. so my bare butt was just getting grated. the butt wound actually healed well - the wound on my side is the one that got really infected and hurt like crazy. we had a water softner wich puts the water through salt so showering with road rash was almost impossible - ooohhh the pain.

yea i had arbor for a while and now iv got the sector nine platinum carbon board and it is sick as hell, but for more info join the longboarding cult

Im going to have to agree with the guy at the beggining that if you want a freaking quality longboard without looking to very obscure companys i would go with a loaded. Personally I prefer the Fish and I am going to buy one once I have money. If you ever carved on your skate deck, like I did cause Im poor, than you will like the fish because it has a similar feel.

i find its mainly my trucks when bombing and carving that make the board, not the deck, but i would go with arbor, they just have a beautiful design.

landyatchz!! they're unreal.

thats what i ride, and its priiime.

i've heard sector 9 makes sweet boards too, but i've never been on one.

yes there is a long boarding cult, id send you a invite but i am not the grand master, howeven i can send you user name to him, so he can send you a invite

does anyone know other companies that make like a 45ish cruiser with fiberglass like the sector 9 cosmic stuff. i love riding this one board that we "borrowed" from this gilrs i know but now she wants it back. i want something like that but i dont know if there is anything better than it
