Longboarding

So I love surfing and have long boarded just a couple of times. I want to buy a board, however, I have no idea how to figure out what one to get. Is there somewhere I can go to demo some boards or what would you guys recommend?

What kind of riding are you looking to do? like cruising, carving, dh, etc..

I'm pretty comfortable giving a few recommendations on inexpensive quality boards, and sites to get them off.

If you live anywhere near calgary check out my buddies company templeton longboards--full customization and cheap prices.

go into a skate shop or somewhere else that sells longboards and they will usually at least let you stand on them if not ride them around the shop. just get one that you think feels good.

When I have gone before a couple of times I rode dervish i think. It was really flexible and fun to ride. I am mainly going to be riding small hills and flat surfaces.

At first your going to want to stick to the small hills, but as you get more comfortable your going to want to keep pushing yourself to the bigger ones.

You might want something dropped for stability on hills and easier pushing.

Possibly the Never Summer Heist. Its a drop through board that can be compared to a dervish maybe a little less flex. It priced really reasonably. It has integrated nose and tail protectors which is a major plus, and it's supposedly a very durable board and I haven't heard one bad thing about it. Throw some lemon zig zags, O-tangs, or s9 RF's on that with some randal's and you'll be set.

i really like Kracked Skulls longboards, and mine has about 1 and half years use, and i've had no problems. i have the M1. today when me and my buddy were riding he did a shove-it and landed up near the trucks and snapped the entire front end off of his scimitar. his board may have been a fluke like weaker wood, he snapped it on the grain of the wood, so im just lettin you know.

I am looking for a board myself I used to have a sector 9 bamboo that was around 3ft i can't remember the name, but it met a sad end heading down to the beach in Tacoma when I lived there. i live in Texas now so it would be used mostly for getting around campus and bombing any small hill i could find. i know jack shit about boards any recommendations.

yeah man fiberflex makes sick longboards, ive had mine for a few months and its been holding up super well, they are flexible but not to flexible

yeah iv got the heist its a sick board. the stock wheels on it are bomb really soft wheels but when they break free they are smooth for being so soft. if you really want to start sliding you should probably get another pair of wheels anyway.
