Longboarding in and around SLC

Could some people maybe pass on a few good hills to me, and does anyone know what the deal with hitting BCC is? Cause it looks mighty fine
 
there are some good hills everywhere. try some near 1500 south 1300 east and the canyons are pretty good too.
 
For just cruising go to the U and just take trax, there are tons of fun cruisers you can get to from there and just do laps. Watch out for cops in and around the U because many of them (but not all) are douchebags and fairly strictly enforce laws against longboarding. In most of the rest of the city cops don't care nearly as much. If you are doing canyons, east canyon is fun. For BCC and LCC I would wait until summer if you want to do it during the day because of traffic, if you do it at night get someone to drive behind you with headlights on so you can see the road because of a couple midly sketchy patches.
 
yo definetly hit up Lincoln lane down by olympus high school -- long and mellow, some decent vert at the top. real fun
 
going down campus is ok, but by far the best run is if you take trax up to the medical center, and then keep heading down to 100 south, then go down this steep sidewalk and then take a right and go up into the avenues, basically its really hard to explain but i would defintely meet you at the stadium or something and go on a few runs in the avs
 
I love the emigration canyon. Check that out. If you follow it all the way around to where it ends up in parleys way, there is some turns and shit, then there is a nice, long, smooth, straight down.
 
Longboarding is the best way to get around at the U, without question. I love the fact that everyone just cruises. It's so fun, and seriously such a perfect setup if you live at the dorms. You can get on your board 10 minutes before class and make it anywhere on the campus. you can get downtown in 20 minutes easy if you are fast and traffic isn't bad.
 
So when riding to class does everyone ride on the actual roads?
can you guys give me some tips on that, Ive never ridden on a actual city road that has traffic on it.
 
are you in the dorms? if you are, then all it is is big wide pen sidewalks. You ride down through the dorms to a bridge that you cruise acrosss, walk down some stairs, and then there's the HYPER "highway" which is a really wide sidewalk that goes all the way down campus. there's a route you can take that gets you all the way from the dorm to the stadium wihtout ever taking a foot off your board.

for cruising down town, there is a specific route that I take that seems to have the least amount of traffic. Do you know the layout of the city fairly well? It's pretty simple if you do.
 
ya ill be in the dorms in the fall. Chapel Glen 804. But how wide is this hyper highway?
the size of a road? so its really not that hard to get around on campus. Then once your down there you just take the bus back up to the dorms. So I never really have to ride on a street? and no im not familiar with the city quite yet. But I will be in the fall im sure
 
it's as wide as a road, then partway down there's a grass divider in the middle. You never really have to ride on a road. You can ride through a parking lot rather than the sidewalk partway down on crowded days too.. When you get there in the Fall just ride the campus a few times to get a feel for it, because riding it with people on it is sketch if you aren't used to how it is.
 
there are rules. you aren't supposed to ride faster than 10 miles an hour and not after 10 pm.

obviously pretty much noone cares though.
 
JEA 804 represent... that was my freshman dorm at the u.... and as for boarding... u is insanely similar to a ski resort... ride down, train picks you up and brings you back to the top... not to mention the constant crew thats shredding... also, for those of you that have a pair, head up to olympus cove, ive killed it up there on my freebord, but im not so sure if its a real safe place to longboard (unforgivingly steep/fast/curvy)
 
whoever mentioned the spots near olympus is pretty on. there are definately some fun routes around the millcreek/holladay areas ive peeped and seen people shredding on. i however dont longboard....i rock the scooter (custom griptape job, nbd)
