Longboarding crashes?

Yesterday I was boarding to class at the u of u. Bombed it from Engineering to president's circle, but met a hippie at the end of my voyage. Lets just say, he was slow to move and i had to bail. It was the gnarliest dinger ive had by far. What kinda stories or videos do you guys have from cruisin or crashing?

took a turn a bit too fast and broke traction faster than i could handle. i didn't have my slide gloves on so i did like a baseball slide and removed a good portion of my leg and ankle.

Unfortunately dont have any footy but I was getting towed by a car going around 50 kph. we were on a little driveway thing for a park and it was in the shape of an L. Got to the point where I had to make the left hand turn and sort of got cut off by the car so I got a little speed wabble then I hit gravel so I ditched the board and tried to run it out... I cant run 50 kph so I ate shit. Luckily my head broke my fall lol

Last summer we were bombing this hill by my house that we hit regularly, normally get going about 35. I kicked into it pretty hard, dont know how fast I was going, but about halfway down the hill I got speed wobbles baaad, bailed right onto my shoulder, and then my head. My friend behind me said I slid for about 20 ft on my head (helmets FTW!!) rolled onto my back for a bit more sliding, then hopped back onto my feet. Even when I jumped back onto my feet I was still running full speed.

Lost my glasses, hands were really cut up, road rash everywhere on my back. It also felt like I tore my rotator cuff or something, because as I rolled my shoulder around I could feel a small pain. When I got back to my friends house i took off my shirt to see the damage, my friends mom looked at me and said "you need to go to the hospital" It was at that point that I realized i broke my collarbone. Shittyst day ever.

Oddly enough my hands were the part that hurt the most...collarbone was bad but not as bad as the hands. No pics, but theres a video somewhere of my friends pouring hydrogen peroxide all over me, and me yelling a lot.

oh, one thing i forgot...
THANK GOD FOR PRESCRIPTION PAIN KILLERS
my script of vicodin saved my life when my leg fused to my bed sheet. literally every inch of the wound in the picture up there was basically superglued to my bed. the pain of the actual fall was nothing compared to ripping that fucker off.

i was bombing a hill down to my buddys house that i did every day except one day i pointed it from a little higher and there happened to be water in the gutter of the right hand turn i had to make. I tried to make it as mellow as possible but going that fast i had to lean into it a little bit. so i go through the water and into the turn and the back wheels slide out to the point where the board is perpendicular to the direction of travel. so the wheels catch and i get whipped backwards onto my head. I must have been knocked out but i dont know anyone who saw it so im not really sure. All i know is that i heard someone saying "are you ok?" a couple times as i was staggering back to my feet and wiping the blood coming from nose. Never saw this person though it would be interesting to talk to them about it. anyways I managed to grab my board and start walking to my buddy's house but i remember not being able to walk straight, like i was hammered. so I make it to my friends and i felt like i was only there for 30 minutes but i guess it was a couple hours. So i decide that i probably fucked my shit up pretty bad and called my mom to take me to the hospital. So she takes me, turns out i had a hairline fracture in my skull with some bleeding inside the skull that was putting some pressure on my brain. I had to stay in the hospital for about 3 days until they could make sure that the bleeding stopped and that the pressure was going down. it was pretty shitty. I was hungry for like 3 or 4 days but couldnt keep anything I ate down. Couldnt really read for a week or two without getting bad headaches. It was terrible. Had to be really mellow that summer too because if i hit my head again within a couple months of the accident it could have been exponentially worse. SO moral of the story is always wear a helmet because head injuries suck.

aight so my my dumb ass friend was pulling me behind a gas powerd scooter on a gravel road. We were going about 25 and i got some wobbles so i said to slow down, instead he guns the fucker and the board is just gone from my feet. I felt nothing, looked down to see my leg (normally white) covered in a layer of blood. After going about 50 feet to my sisters house im in the tub trying to clean it, remove like 5 rocks which strangly didnt hurt at all. I thought it was awesome to go through that and not feel any pain :), but of course life has to be gay, so it gets infected... Doctor spends 30 mins with a heavy wool brush, (kinda like the double sided axe scrubber thing) just raking the shit out of my leg, no pain killers, hurt worse then anything i have ever felt.

any advice on getting gravel out of your skin? i've had mini rocks coming out of my hand for almost a month now

A kid from my hometown died recently longboarding. He wasn't wearing a helmet and ended up going into a coma for a day and then he died. Wear your helmets! So weird to think that someone so young could die just from falling on a longboard.

Tight road, i was going aboutt 45mph and a hairpin came up hit some loose rocks on the road slid out. and went under a chainlink fence

the U can def be dangerous, I was riding the institute road and was going around the turn and a car was coming the other way.. tried to bail but was going to fast and ended up doing a headstand into the curve.. I didnt wanna wait in the hospital lines so i just sat in my room all night and went to the dr in the morning. Turned out i chipped my hip, had a nasty concussion, tore off part of my ear, and while cleaning out my arm found out i shredded it all the way down to the bone.. I almost fainted when I realized I was looking at my own bone

holy shit your such a boss if that shit is true. I probably would never go faster than 25 on my long board much less after all the shit that happened. I think the shoulder muscle one is the gnarliest

not as bad as IB, but i also got the lower half of my back and ass on this fall. not posting pics of that because someone the only one i have has my balls falling out of my boxers.

All true! Ian's a BAW$$ when he longboards. I remember when he showed me the fence fall i thought he got attacked by a tiger.

I also came into this thread expecting that picture of his shoulder. one time he got stuck to the magnet in our factory.

Stop following me. Like every thread i post in your in.

ALSO Jared, why am i in your sig?

these are so gnarly. i ruined a brand new pair of pants when i ate it, shredded my knee, and my hands are numb still in the bottoms of the palms. gotta love this sport.

dont judge me, it hurt my feelings when everyone made fun of me two summers ago. I WAS JOKING WITH THE FUCKING HAT AND HEADPHONES AND SCARF FUCKERS!!! and i was intoxicated, as if that wasnt apparent enough.

took the turn a little late and hit the curb. I flew five feet straight into a chain link fence. it kinda hurt

ive never actually fallen down longboarding cause i dont do it much.

not to threadjack but i have a longboarding question. why the fuck did I see some kid riding down a hill sitting on it like he was doing a broken grind? is that a trick or is that kid just retarded?

sitting or standing? cause if he was standing its how you tuck for speed with your knee against your leg and tilted. but he could have been doing it wrong

about a year ago i was going kinda fast on a sidewalk, realized i was going to crash so i tried to go off of the part where the crosswalk was. there was one of those pad things and my wheels did not stay strait. I remember them going completely sideways heelside, and then completely sideways toeside before i got thrown off. I landed on my ass rolled onto my back and whipped my head back into the concrete(i was not wearing a helmet). every one of the kids i was with thought i had broken my skull and one of them already had there phone out and was dialing 911. for some reason i did not hurt my head whatsoever. but i did manage to shred my shirt to the point of it being a rag on my shoulders.
The worst one i have seen is a kid was bombing a hill on a miniboard. he hit some gravel and caught and did the same thing as me. but this kid broke his skull and was bleeding more than i have ever seen someone bleed. he was airlifted to denver within a half an hour and had surgery that night. the kid was in a coma for a week. he had to learn how to do everything in his life again. even breathe.
The moral to these two stories is that you should always wear a helmet

I broke both my wrists when I put my arms out to break my fall. I had to go to my senior prom in casts, it was pretty boss.

First day of summer last year. It was my first time actually doing hills on my friends longboard. I started to get a little wobbly before a 90 degree turn. As I got to the turn I noticed I wasnt goin to make it so I headed for the grass/sidewalk. I planed on getting close enough that I could run it out to the grass. Unfortunately I only to 1 or two steps and slammed my head on the side walk instead of the grass. I got up and walked up to my friends car. I had no idea I was bleeding until i got to the car and they told me. My left arm/shoulder, fingers, and forhead were scraped. The freaky part to me was that I pulled a huge chunk of hair out of my head.

What a good start to the summer that was. Last time I have ever longboarded.

2nd day with my longboard, got a little ambitious and tried to bomb this hill in my neighborhood. Didn't turn? Got super speed wobbles and face planted to the pavement. The bone on my chin was showing and had to get 50 stitches. 25 outside of the wound and 25 inside

man these people have nuts. wish me luck, im gonna do the same run tomorrow to class. and the kid you saw that was sitting on the board, he was probably just scared to stand. thats what my brother does. he bombs scary ass hills on his ass haha its pretty hyyyylarious

I don't have pictures, but I got hit by a car once doing a toe side pendulum slide back in the day when i was a rookie. It hurt reeeeeeally bad. I thought my leg snapped in half when it contacted the bumper and I went under, but thankfully it didn't. Other than that, always wear slide gloves and kneepads if you're freeriding, or leathers if you're bombing over 60 kmh and your falls shouldn't be bad at all!
