Longboard

false. I have taken my sector nine down some very big hills and it has been fine. I also use mine to slide a bunch and its been great.
Did you ever realize that your nut might have just been loose? not that it came off because of "the heat of the friction"?

sector9's are NOT terrible boards, especially for the price. Many people use cut-down bombhills and the special race deck (cant be bought) in serious races like maryhill, and do very well. also, the nut falling off your axel is not sector9's fault. they do not make the trucks, or bearings. gullwing makes the trucks (a very good truck company), and the bearings are generic abec 5's which are not bad at all. my guess is that you didnt take care of your bearings very well, and didnt make sure your axel nuts were tight. the only way friction builds up is if your bearings seize up which is caused by either water getting in them and rusting, or using something like WD-40 to "lubricate" them, which actually eats away at the bearing's grease, making the balls rub metal on metal. even if your bearings siezed up, before the nut fell off from friction, your whole wheel would melt from the bearing seat out. i bet the nyloc insert in the axel nut was either worn off, or it wasnt tight enough, making the wheel fall off. also, EVERY board cracks. most boards are made from the same wood and in the same way, so by saying that sector9 sucks because their boards crack, you have to say that every company sucks because their boards crack. even the super-duper loaded dervish cracks alot, along with my $400 rayne dee-light hellcat, but no one will say that rayne and loaded are shit.

im sorry for the harshish rant, but it needs to be said that sector9 boards are not shit. sure there are better and much much more expensive boards out there, but when you are paying $70 for a deck, you shouldnt be expecting top of the line quality anyway.

anyone? And please stop the bitching about sector nine its not a big deal. People can have their own opinion on things, and it might be different than yours.

ok I am getting a 43'' scimitar. What wheels should i get, i was thinking either 75 BigZigs lime, or pink, or 76 gumballs, or 77 strikers. I want a softer wheel for a better ride, but i also want to be able to slide eventually, what would you recommend?

i have the abec 11 70's flashback 81a wheels. I like them a lot. They give me some good grip on hills and such but I'm also startin to learn how to slide on them and they're not bad for that.
However at some point you're either going to have to get two sets of wheels or commit to either sliding(harder wheel) or carving(softer wheel)

When you say 77 strikers are you talking diameter or duro(i forget sizes)? I'd get lime bigzigs or 80A strikers in w/e size.. i'd also recommend that if you want to be going fast not to by this board. By fast i mean 40mph+ so if you aren't looking into that don't worry about it. Personally i don't know why you wouldn't be looking to go 60mph, but that's just me.. Also sliding is REALLY EASY, just grab some mountain biking leg and arm pads and some jeans and just try.. it took me 15 minutes to learn, as well as my friend.

The final straw of advice I can give you is: INVEST IN SOME FUCKING NICE KNEEPADS AND MAKE SOME SLIDE GLOVES YOU WILL THANK ME. (and buy a rayne nemesis or hellcat)

78a should be pretty good duro for an all around wheel. It might be kinda hard to learn how to slide with them but they should work

bump for what wheels. strikers, gumballs, or bigzigs pink or lime? Please help i want to order it really soon

anyone want to reccomend me a good sliding wheel?
i am a longboard retard, and the wheels i have are pretty soft

any freeride wheel (round lipped) around 80a...retro freerides, earthwing freeriders, round s9 RF's, and maybe the otang freerides, but the tangs would be my last choice because to my knowledge not too many people like them...i would get either the retros or the s9's
