Longboard suggestions?

Ok so I've decided to start longboarding and I'm wondering if anyone has some suggestions for a good quality board for a beginner? I'm not entirely sure if posting my weight will help, but I'm 140 lbs for reference.

Are you just looking for a board to cruise around on? Because if you are you will be fine with pretty much any board. If you have a skate shop near you that carries longboards i would recommend you go there and just try a few to see what feels best to you. As mentioned before most Sector nines make great beginner boards i have a sector 9 pintail (traditional raindrop shape) that is perfect for just cruising on and bombing some smallish hills.

I love my loaded board but they are kinda pricey. definitely worth looking at if you have the money.

This reminds me...
I do have my Sector 9 Rasta n8v for sale
i used it for everything from bombing hills to riding pool its a great first board.
pm me if interested.

You should definitely check out my friends company. message "B.Pol" on NS and tell him that you were told by shintastic48 to ask him about GET Longboards. I am purchasing one this summer and they look super dope. And you would be helping a fellow NSer. There are pics of the longboards in B.Pol's profile also.

landyachtz makes awesome boards i love them.

in terms of what would be a good longboard, it depends on what you want to do. For instance if you just want to cruise/ carve and chill you'll get a completel different board from what you would get if you were going to be racing. go to the landyachtz website, it's set up really well.

if your willing to pay for a quality board loaded makes some really nice ones. i have a dervish and it rides super smooth and pumps really well

loaded boards are the absolute best.

i bought a sector 9 carbon trylam. its pretty much a downhill board. i put bones swiss bearings on it and the whole package cost me no more than 150. loaded boards your talking $$$$$$$$$$$.

sector nine are great for beginners + they are high quality

Figure out what discipline you might like to get into before purchasing a board, you don't want to buy a dervish if you want to get into DH and you don't want to buy a landy evo if you want to dance. My personal favorite company is Rayne, they have a range of flexy and non-flexy boards so you can get something for any discipline. But if you don't know what you like, just head to west49 or Zumies and pick up a sector9, something beginner style.

if moneys no object loaded is for sure the way to go, but a great deck for less money a good stiffer deck would be most landyachtz, but an arbor is just as good with more give in the turns and easier to learn tricks on

buy loaded even if u are a beginner. the flex is of extremely high quality and is so fun!

The Dervish is sex on wheels. It will make learning easier, and will be your one board quiver all the way up to expert.

I would honestly just go to your local skate shop and hop on a few boards, maybe take them out for a spin if they let you. Choose the one you like best.
Most companies have a wide range of boards for every style or riding. As for quality, well you aren't really ripping like you would on a set of twins or a normal skateboard, I've never heard of a longboard snapping. I have a LandYachtz and it's dope.

my brother has sector9 and i have an arbour, but i like the way my arbour rides much better, it has a much more stable feel to it

if your going to do a lot of riding around a college campus or an urban setting, id get something w/ a tail. 90% of the boards out there dont have them, but i cant stand riding one w/o a tail. being able to kick turn is so nice.

i have a sector 9 haleiwa board with gullwing sidewinder trucks which are standard if you buy a sector 9 board...also i put on some gumballs 76mm 75a(wheels)...then i have some bones swiss labyrinth bearings...they spin soo fast and forevver!! thats just my setup its a cruiser/carver its sick...btw im 5'4 120lbs...
but it all depends on what shape you prefer...and what type of ride you want..like longer board..shorter..and shape of deck such as a dervish which is not standard shape but they rip...or reg generic board like sector9

if youre just beginning, get a sector 9. those are dope. i got the feature board with the weed crushing spot carved outa the bottom. dont get a landyachts or loaded for your first board. however.....they are soooo ill
