Long skis

Im getting 09 Line invaders 171 and im about 5'8''. Will it be harder to do rails or easier with longer skis, and what would they be like on jumps?
 
dude im 5 10 and the 178 invaders are as short as id ever wanna go, you'll be more than ok with 171's, shit, you should get the 78's

you are pretty dumb dude. for someone whos 5'9 riding 178 shouldnt be calling a kid "kiiiiiinda pusssy" whos 5'8 and asking to get 171. it doesnt really make a difference as long as you dont go shorter than 168. my friend has last years anthem 173 and i have last years punx 178 and mine are actually smaller than his because line measures tip to tip and atomic measure the entire ski
 
yeah ive noticed this too. my skis are supposed to be 180 but i measured them at about 177 tip to tip
 
You're fine.

If anything, the length of the ski is much more determined by weight (strength) and skier ability than anything. A beanpole may have the height to handle a long ski on edge, but he can't control it.

and go 178s. 178 is not long even for your height. Also, weight is more important, but with a soft jib ski(i don't like Anthems/Invaders, btw) go longer. When I was 150lbs I was skiing 194s and 181s.
 
you might want to get off the Serious Train at the next stop, because obviously i was just making a stereotypically non-helpful NS post to try to be funny cause it's summertime and im bored
i just know he'll regret getting 171's almost immediately, they'll probably feel like kids' skis after a day or two, i had a pair of 171's from when i started skiing park freshman year in college and i sold them to my buddy who sucks at skiing cause i knew id never ever ride them again
 
I am 5'10", 150 pounds, and I ride on MR 179's @ center. If I was getting invaders I would get the longest I can.
 
ride what feels comfortable and you ski best on. try a longer pair than 171's though. i'd be willing to bet you'd like them more than you think you would.
 
how about who cares. y does it madder on the size. im 5'7 and i ride 161's i can still ski fine. if u cant ride a shorter ski im pretty sure u suck .
