Long ski vs short ski

so i know long skis are more for more advanced skiers and shorter ones are more for beginners. but why?

Depends which ski you got. Different companies build their skis differently. Some are stiff while other skis are really soft..

i personally prefer longer skis, but my skis this year are kinda short for my original preference because i grew a lot since last season. but to be pretty honest, lots of stuff in the park is easier for me now. not sure if its because i got better or because theyre a bit easier to manipulate, but i definitely would be more interested in having my skis shorter in the future.

It's easier to butter with shorter skis, since you can put your weight over the tips with less effort. I know it's a crappy explanation, but I'm sure you can picture it.

You can do crazier butters with longer skis though.

Short skis more control and easyer to flip around on most things. Long skis better for big airs more of a landing platform. Just go head hight and your covered for 99% of everything. If you google skiing podium and look under images. Most of the gold metal skiers on the podium skis are head hight with there boots on. Ive noticed the Bronze medel skiers skis are shorter or longer than head hight. Dont ask How I noticed that??!! This seemed true for x Games podium shots and world cup fis podium shots the same. Soooooo there must be somthing to that. Ive always run top of head hight skis and find any condition just fine that way. The taller you are the longer the ski. The heavier you are the stiffer the ski all at head hight though. That seems to be the norm.

not true, everyone on the podium uses longer skis
