so my sister is doing a research paper on London and asked me to help her by looking up info on the music scene. i got some info from google about good venues, but what are some good local bands/artists? thanks guys

The best music in London is the stuff you dont hear of. Look into dubstep and grime and stuff. Caspa, Rusko, Scratch Perverts, Roots Manuva etc
 
last time i checked the London music scene had a lot of new-wave stuff... umm... kinda like Klaxons etc... also Foals.. umm... The Rakes? The Kooks?

Actually i dont know if these guys are all from London or not... but the music scene there is pretty legit.

Have you ever tried being sound? You should probably give it a shot sometime. You never know, you might like it.
 
The London Scene is not about huge venues, but about small, ghetto clubs in North and East London. You can go into Camden, or the Mile End on a Friday night, and be in a place with perhaps 100 other people, and listen to the sickest, freshest music ever.

We have a few iconic places, like Brixton Academy, or the Electric Ballroom which play indie/ scene music. But the grime/dubstep/DnB that you stumble across is the true London music scene, in tiny venues, where there are no pretensions about fame or money or whatever, where both the crowd and the artists are there for the love of the music only.

i was gonna say the Arctic Monkeys too. Uh, i'm pretty sure Block Party is from somewhere in england
