the thing was a mutated alien creature that can take take to the forms of its prey. the sasquatch is a huge/ hairy humanoid/co-magnon
 
Humans are boring. Just once I'd like to hear about a mystery creature that isn't a human + x. Human + ape= sasquatch. Human+bird=angel. human+fish=mermaid. human+transparency=ghost. Human+wolf=werewolf. Human+bighead=alien. For all of these things, there will always be true believers. They will continue on with their delusions in the face of all evidence. Forever and Ever. Amen.

What if all of those things are genetic mutations that have remained on Earth and in the surrounding galaxys, but were created HERE in a long lost past civilization?!
 
this was brought up once in class. things actually tend to get scarier/creepier the more they resemble humans, until they are actually human its its not creepy. think about it this way; Y is scariness and X is how much alike to humans. say actually being a human is 7, and graph drops directly down at the point its at. basically, the closer you can get to looking human without being human, the scarier.
