so i went yesterday to my local shop, and i saw this kid who was about 12 or 13 and couldnt of weighted more than 110 pounds soaking wet. he was looking at fks 180's. it was so funny becuase he was trying to get his dad to buy them for him.

any funny stories from your shop??

i once saw a guy holding some bindings, px's or something, and glancing back and forth between them and some cross country skis. yeah... idk what he was thinking.

Gettin new ski boots at ski swap, gaper volunteer, "Oh, I see you're learning how to snowboard." ...... Laughed in his face and walked away

Aren't you a prick. Why not correct him?

And here's you looking like "a gaper" less than two years back. How time flies, eh?

I walk in, go to the back wall where all the skis are, and see this totally weird loookin guy askin questions about some JJ's, so he was like "ya, i think i'm gonna buy them", so the employee was like "alright", then the man picks up a pair of Griffons and said he was gonna buy them

Looked kinda like this:

props for him trying though.

why? you can only have fun skiing when you are wearing XXXXL and on twins? good lord, ns is more of a fashion show than i even thought.

The picture was just for effect, I just don't take kindly to people who laugh when you try to be nice and ask questions. As if you were "a noob" or gaper in this matter. Not everyone knows the difference between snowboarding and skiing equipment. I'd be fucking shunned from many circles if I laughed at people's faces when they commented about my skiing as snowboarding for the Xth time.

Don't do it to strangers, either. Being nice to people goes a long way, so no harsh feelings about me "calling you out" on your clothing, as there was really nothing wrong with it.

At Skate Barn a few years ago (a skate place near me) this kids mom was shopping in the shop, and everyone knows everyone here which makes it funnier. so she picks up some mens boxers and goes and buys them which people are already sort of laughing at, then we see her wearing them like ten minutes later as short shorts. haha for some reason it was so funny.

i have had a lot of older guys coming in looking for rockered skis and asking me for the "hip new gear". props to them for trying to embrace a new era, but sometimes, you gotta act your age...

We were all gapers at some point.

Gapers are good for the sport.

Gapers are innocent and hilarious.

Gaper Day wouldn't exist without gapers.

Yes it is true, gapers serve a purpose and we were all there once. The first time you skied you didn't wear tall tees and xxl jackets...

That might not be a reality any more when this generation has kids of their own to push out to the slopes. Forget french fries and pizza, these kids are gonna afterbang straight from the get-go - or get disowned.

\o/

went to a shop in reno called BoBos. I was just looking at skis when this dude comes out of left field and starts throwing moments down my throat, after telling him i'm not really into moments he proceeds to tell me that the majority of the companys i was interested in (atomic, surface, bluehouse, liberty) where "micro brew" companys that where just not worth it and moment was the way to go. I then ask him about all the bindings ripping out of moments that i have seen from my friends and what the deal with it was warranty wise. He doesnt say a word and grabs a pair of last years armada ar6's and is like this is the ski you want.

how is he gay? he looks around 12 in this picture.... i bet you werent a "thug" when you were that young so stfu. you dont need to hate.

I walked into the shop with a pair of invaders, and the kid beside me (maybe 8 years old) looks at his dad and says, "daddy, I want those skis!". Then the father turns to me and asks, "where is the rental desk?" lol

the other day i watched my boss put mojo 15s on his 13 year old sons jjs. there is no way the kid is over 110 lbs

jesus. all of you making comments on how you laugh in peoples face is unbelievably ignorant. wear whatever the fuck you want to wear, gaper or not, ski to have fun

yesterday the local hill had a railjam ata big chain ski shop where all of the people that work there dont know much of anything, and the prize for ski best trick were marker squires(1-10din) and a guy 6'+ and probably around 180 won them... i feel like if it were at a legit shop, someone that worked there would say something about getting him something safe

a legit shop wouldv'e given him store credit, i doubt anywhere would give him fks 180s or jesters, because those are much more expensive bindings. but he should be able to get store credit, otherwise he should sell or give to a lady friend who skis casually, or kids if he has them. but i get what you mean, he prbly wouldn't have made it through the comp with those
