Lol at goepper trying nosebud dub

All this hate on Goepper is completely undeserved. He's banging Shawn Johnson, slaying the xgames, is probably top 5 when it comes to income in freeskiing, and is allegedly a super nice guy. quit hatin.
 
all you guys bitching about how he "copied henrik" just because you are the first to do a trick doesnt mean that only you are allowed to do it... All those videos of people doing nose butter dubs on the home page get tons of upvotes, but oh no, once goepper tries one he is stealing style from henrik. Jesus you guys need to chill out.
 
it bothers me when people hate on nick so much. he's such a nice person, and a great skier. he came to my home hill in ohio to host a rail jam, and was just awesome the whole time. when he was at the sign up table, he actually approached me and my brother and talked to us. he really is a cool person. and his skiing is great. even on our little ohio features he made them look sick. and even though he might not aferbang like tom, he still does look good while skiing. and honestly, you can't argue that his flips aren't amazing. so what he's trying a butter dub? is it wrong of someone or are they "copying henrick" just because he did it first? that logic is pretty dumb. henrick opened the door for a new style of dubbing, anyone else is allowed to try it. whatever. everyone just ski and be happy. /rant
 
people act like henrik was the first to butter off a jump. go educate yourselves.

not to mention people used to do them on skis w/o rocker, early rise and taper.

It's nice to see some facts stated in threads now a days, ESPECIALLY during the doldrums of summer.
 
You all seem to have forgotten that gentile was not the first doing nose butters. Do you not remember TJ doing them years ago? He was doing dubs but that was because dubs were only just being thrown.

After seeing the scores henrik got last year all comp skiers will have butters next season, that's how tricks progress. Bobby did the first triple but people don't say other skiers are copying bobby once they learn the triple.

Overall any trick which scores well will spread through the comp scene that's how it goes
 
Why is there no edit here yet? Any way Henrik not gentile and I meant to say TJ did not nose but dub but it was only because dubs were really new. The nose but cork five was so sick. I spent all my time getting nose buts down after I saw it so technically Henrik copied me and TJ
 
Props to geopper for trying that. I think it's also only natural that he follows what got such a high score previously. Makes sense, he is more of a comp athlete.
 
The crazy thing is that he is prob almost as good, or possibly better then Tom at Slope comps, and he is like 6 years younger. He still has so much time to progress . In 6 years if he stays healthy he will be crazy consistent and stylish.
 
hahahhaha yes! henrik, while a good park skier, is a damn goon! when he speaks, he sounds like he has tanner halls dick shoved in his mouth. you kids seem to forget that before henrik started riding with inspired media and tanner hall, he was a clean cut euro kid!

geopper is better than 99.237989% of everyone on new schoolers when it comes to slopestyle. and there are plenty of clips of him out there stomping butter dubs. yea he may have whack style, but he's a tall lanky kid. even if he wore 4xl it would still look like an xl.

and whats even more funny, is as you sit on your ass on your computer, bitching away, he's out gettin paid, stompin shit, and having the time of his life. go borrow some vagisil from your mom and shut the fuck up

his style definatley is gymnast style a bit sometimes but still... why a ll the hate?
 
Allright when its one million against one, it's not worth the fight. Clearly I am wrong and you guys are right. Everyone should be doing nose but dubs cuz they are hella sick, P-White's was next level.
 
I had the privilege to watch Goepper ski a lot this year at Keystone and the kid kills it SO hard. His tricks are dialed and some of the smoothest out there. If you have seen the kid ski outside of x games you'd know what im talking about
 
I'm just gonna pop in here and say DAMNIT, my attempt to get the approval of newschoolers has failed once again! After all, it is first on my list of priorities. However, I have been blessed with the opportunity to do what I love everyday as a career. I hope you all have as much fun learning new shit on your skis as I do! Cheers
 
this thread proves that there is no legitmate reason for hating on goepper. you hate him for doing future spins and then henrik does a triple before him. you like henrik for doing nosebutter dubs and when nick does it, you still hate him. nick absolutely kills it. quit pickin on one of the best guys in the game right now. he landed the nosebutter dub at WCS. what more do you want
 
I have been on a hiatus from posting anything serious on newschoolers, but it's summer, I'm bored as fuck and the whole goepper thing is fun to debate. Anyway here's my two cents: I can't stand Goepper's skiing. He might be a nice kid and he's definitely talented but he is literally a disfunctional culmination of other peoples style mixed with his own, tight fitting, generic, bland, execution. You don't have to wear tall tees to ski well, look good, or have your own unique style. The reason I, along with lots of my friends and I'm sure people on this website enjoy people like henrik's and phil's skiing is because they use skiing to express their personalities, while they are both wu tang loving foreigners there skiing is distinguishable and interesting because it directly relates to their character, which reflects their various sources of inspiration. Guys like phil and henrik know what they want their skiing to be and execute it. Nick goepper on the other hand seems to lack the originality, and creativity to ski in a way that is true to himself and not everyone else in the freeskiing world. Every goepper edit I see shows the kid imitating the style of the game's most creative skiers (henrik in this case) instead of actually doing anything truly unique. One of the coolest parts of skiing is that we can watch edits from pros and draw inspiration from their tricks. However this element is ruined when this creativity becomes the body for a skiers tricks rather than the mind, and I hate how rather than taking the creativity that is presented to him and creating something related but individual, goepper essentially other skiers styles and adds tiny variations to their tricks and presents them as his own. Another problem I have with goepper is he focusses more on doing the specific trick such as the nose butter to the extent of where it looks like his body is rejecting the foreign style. Everybody skis in different ways and right now goepper is quite simply a bastardization of everyone else's creations, which eliminates the actually pleasing element of skiing, which is the ease associated with the execution of various tricks. This element does not exist in the way goepper is taking his skiing. That's why I hate watching nick ski, and fully agree with people who dislike the common occurance of him borrowing other people's style.

that's not what I'm referring to. He does similar tricks with slight variations and there is literally not a touch of personalization, it looks like someone doing the exact same thing as henrik except it fucking sucks because it's apparent his style doesn't truly accommodate the trick. It's like someone programmed a robot to do henriks nose butter. The bell bottoms don't help. WHile most people can do them when someone throws a flat 3 it usually reflects the way they usually ski and perform other tricks. When Goepper does a trick someone else popularized it looks in no way unique, just copied.

i find this funny because i can almost guarantee that if you saw that exact same edit, but it was some unknown kid who wears baggy clothing, you would think it was awesome.

People just hate on nick for the same reason that they hate on shaun white: he is successful, but doesn't follow the mainstream skier style
 
I'm not agreeing with you about your opinions on Goepper. I personally dont think Nick has a "standout" style, but I also dont necessarily think he copies styles either; and its fairly undeniable that Nick is outstandingly clean most of the time.

But on to my point, you should know that Henrik himself is truly guilty of doing what you deem Nick to be doing. When Henrik was young skier, he spent his days emulating other skiers. (go watch the old Mik-D style edits, then after Toms superunkown- he started doin wally tricks, then started chilling with Casabon morphing his style into what it is today) This is undeniable and might have been what helped bring Henrik to where he is now. Sometimes It takes the inspiration and the drive of your surrounding peers to drive you to a new, higher level. And sometimes when that happens, a whole new style or even movement can be born.

 
I have been waiting a long time for you to post something like this. Finally! Hating is never justified, and always based on jealousy. How can anyone dislike another fellow skier for doing what he loves and trying new shit. We all share the love of freeskiing and should all support each other in the pursuit of doing what we love. The time people spend on discussing you and what you do is ridiculous. Keep crushin it! Quality post btw.

honestly who actually gives a fuck, everyone's just jealous that he throws down way harder than 99.9% of anyone on ns.
