It seems to me that everytime I close the window that has NS up it seems that i have to login again to get back in the site...

Maybe you should set a cookie that allows you to stay this way and on the front page just have it check for the session to start and if so redirect to the next page.

i would love it if when you signed in from say a forum page (not www.newschoolers.com) then it would take you back there and not to the news page.

2 solutions here... Don't close the page, or live with it. And bookmark the news page if you don't want the login screen.

security holes all over the joint with a simple cookie. that'd eman i could create a cookie with your suername in it et voila im you. There is alot more to it than simply remembering your name. stick the apssword in there to you say? encrypt it. how would you go about decrypting it using normal PHP (thr language newschoolers uses) to get at it again? My guess is that it uses md5 encryption which cant be easily decrypted.

in short. its no easy feat.

nooo you could make a session.

Basically if you get the right username/password it creates a cookie that allows you to stay logged in. Then the page should have u logged in by the information you put in the forms... im sure there is a way to do so without that. Also, have the password get saved. Its not like its gonna b any easier guessing the password on a cookie than it is to guess it on the login page...

yeah, likke on yahoo. if you log out, and then get back on in a few hrs, you dont have to sign in. after a few hrs, it logs you off if you havent created any traffic.

I still just have no idea how you can mistake your dick and a chicken neck, let alone not realize what you are doing. -manus

You wouldn't store the password in the cookie, you would store session information and set the cookie to never expire.

It would be near identical to what we have now.

Yep, I agree. This is something that can be done, but I have other stuff to work on first. I would prefer not to have to login over and over so I will get around to fixing this soon.

NS should keep you logged in at all times on the comp, it gets very annoying
