Lock threads that havent been replied to after a certain time...

i think this would help for a lot of these stupid and unnecessary bumps that just aggravate most of us. if a moderator just went through and locked threads that are bumped unnecessarily, and go through some of the older years and lock anything that hasnt been commented on in over a year so that they cant be bumped, that would be amazing.

just a suggestion, as it would take quite some time to go through all the old threads that havent been replied to in a long time.

this would allow people to search and read through old posts, but not bump them to try to make a stupid joke.
 
Lots of older threads still hold a ton of value. If people would just not be annoying and stop bumping we wouldn't have a problem.
 
In this case lets weigh the options:

Locking threads: We take already limited time and resources to build in a lock option, then the time required to "lock" 150,000 past threads. Then we have mods who volunteer their time constantly locking thousands of threads manually once we think their active life is up.

VS.

The few people who do bump use the required willpower to NOT click reply and bump a couple dead threads

That is a pretty big JUST from our side, and in this case really doesn't seem an effective use of our resources.
 
the hypocracy is if someone creates a thread and theres a similar but old thread, people say "searchbar n00b"

if someone replies to an old thread, even with valid comments, people bitch "why are u bumping such an old thread"

imo id rather people bump old threads than create new threads
 
Agree and disagree.

It's completely unnecessary to create threads that have the same title/question/topic when there's already one on the same page. Shit's getting ridiculous.

Old threads can and should be bumped for a valid reason, but bumping just to postwhore is reallll lame.

Some people are just assholes and will bitch for no reason.
