Local Ski Shop broke my ski... What now?

Last year I ordered a Ski online and bought a binding (Rossignol FKS 140) at my local ski shop. I wanted to mount it myself but they said since I bought it from them they'll mount it for free. So I let them mount it. Now one Year later my left back binding popped off after doing a simple nollie (binding is still fine) and I saw that they first drilled the wrong holes and didn't even fill in any glue... the screws were completely rusted and got ripped out so now theres water in my ski and it's basically unusable.

NOW THE QUESTION IS: Can I sue them for "breaking" my ski or what should I do to somehow get my money back?

Take it in to them. If they mismounted your ski and didn't tell you they should be giving you some new skis. They didn't even plug the old holes?

Go back to the shop and CALMLY explain the situation. If you start giving them attitude or threatening to "sue" them, you will have a very difficult time getting what you want. Shops are more likely to give you want you want when you don't come in guns blazing and pissed off. Ask to speak with the shop manager when you go in.

Point out how they incorrectly mounted your ski, incorrectly left them unplugged which allowed water to get into the core and led to your breakage, and they didn't even tell you about it when they made the mistake. Their negligence and lack of customer service is what (most likely) contributed to your ski failure. They definitely need to compensate you in some way, perhaps that means new skis or the value you paid for the ski you bought (since they most likely don't have the model if you bought them online).

But, again, be calm and polite and I am sure you will get a fair compensation for what happened. From how you describe it, it seems clear that this is their fault and they will recognize it.

All day long. Have a discussion with them, not a hate fest. Let their work speak for its self. What they did lead to your ski being damaged. Be very factual and not just you did this and that. Good luck.

When you're talking to them, bear in mind that the mistake probably came about because a tech fucked up, panicked, and tried to fix it without telling anyone he fucked up a customer ski. The shop will understand and probably apologize profusely and bend over backwards to help if you handle it right. Ski shops are good people.

Yeah that’s pretty unfortunate. Luckily it sounds like you have a solid leg to stand on for getting new skis. Just remember the first one to anger loses. The reality is, if you took them to small claims court, if what to say is true then you would win. So there’s no reason to go there, just state your case and walk out of there with skis.

I'm curious, say I get my skis mounted, is it safe for me to remove the screws when I get home and see if the holes and whatnot are fine and check for shit like this? You just have to put them in with wood glue again right?

No. Do not remove screws and put them back in the same holes. You will be quite screwed if you do that. Trust your shop, even though OP had a bad experience.

yoo i'm 20 and dont have enough money to buy another ski so i just want to get some money back

You're a lot more likely to get skis than money. The fact that you want to sue for money makes me doubt the whole story, I'm calling bullshit.

Can you sue? Sure, will you win and will it be worth it? Say you take them to small claims court over $600? They show up, Do you still have the paperwork. Do you have the tech sighed release.... Do you want to take three days off work? Suing and the threat are dumb. Go in a talk to them. I know that's a novel idea. Settle it like humans. Ask them to order you a replacement set and go from there.

It's totally fine to remove it and put it back in as long as you use glue and don't strip the screw. However seems a bit stupid to do just to check if the tech made a mistake...

I get it, Be mad but don't go over board. They will most likely own their mistake as long as you keep a level head. If they don't............... Burn the fucker to the ground....... No that would be bad too.
