Let's get some love for the people who paved the way in our local ski scene.

My top 3 around the Twin Cities in Minnesota are (Not in a specific order):

1: Craig Weiler

2: Matt Koskinen

3: Steve Janisch (Skier Steve)

All of these dudes have been conestantly killin it since forever and give back in so many ways to skiing. Also, all of them still slay on the reg.

Geoff Lovelace is a dope ass motherfucker.

I'm friends with him on FB and I can attest to that. He seems so involved with up and coming skiers/ teaching kids to ski which is so dope

Yeah he's a really good coach, and all the kid's he teaches are good guys too.

I started coaching this year at my home hill and it's been the illest shit. All my kids are diehards and lit AF.

The "Unaffiliated Productions" crew in Wisconsin really changed how I ski. While I never became much of a park skier, their overall style inspired me to pick up some twins and start jumping off of shit and going fast.

This edit is my favorite. Highly recommend watching it all. Midwest skiing has a unique vibe that I'm really going to miss in a year.

Kids at Springs drool over Carson Kerr all the time (I don't blame them), but then they see him in person and they're scared of him.

Andy Mahre. In the early 2000's he was doing stuff like 450 on and right-side unnatural cork spins that Idk if anyone else but pollard could do. And if you can zero spin pyramid gap, holy shit no one is doing that today.

People that have influenced me from my hometown and nearby, Homer, AK.

Ghen Saskura -

Kyle Wisner - pow314 on NS -

Gus Cotten - AKgus on NS, works in hood now. Wanna meet him this summer. He was in the older half generation of kids from my area.

love this edit

Timmy D too, but he's super pro now, soo...

Unaffiliated crew, their videos were some of the first I'd ever watched back when I first started park skiing. The MN represent show videos from a while back are also sick.

Sammy Carlson - I think he might live in Portland or Govy, not 100% sure

Tommy Ellingson

Hudson Knoll

I know there are a lot more but I can't seem to think of them right now.

Mt. Hood locs

griffin cummings - started twin tips

eric pollard - style, art, design

tommy ellingson - not originally from here but still a legend in the scene. notorious booter builder/booster/stoked man

danny schwartz - hoodcrew

Gotta give a shoutout to the Duluthians! Jon Regenold is more OG than your OGs and this thread is a serious competition and I determined to take the lead!

Met a dude even more OG last weekend at Giants Ridge, we were both riding solo so we decided to just meet at the chair each run since solo chair rides are awful there. His name was Zach Johns and he was telling me all about riding the "snowboard" park at Spirit in the 90s because the "skier" park was terrible. Plenty of memorable stories from much different times and riding out west. Super rad dude!

Summit at Snoqualmie aka Snoqualmie Pass:

1. Shaun Maurer (Most hardcore mothafucker, skiing and in everything he does)

2. Sam Hall (Coulda been Pep)

3. Boe Zinter (No pole originator, truth)

4. Brett Mcchesney (Timmy Mcchesney's older bro)

5. Shawn Matthies (Did shuffles and butter variations before they were called butters and shuffles)

If anyone knows these cats, they know.

hahah very relevant. he's the gucci killer. i remember when he was a youngin, jesus he would huck himself off of the close out rail in the streets straight to the flat. animal.

So many people who skied hyland like 2007-11 when I was just getting into park that just blew my middle school mind. Idk their names tho

Armin Holzer.

An amazing freeride skier in Italy who was just a really down to earth dude who i had the honor to ski with a couple of times. Passed away in December and left me really sad. He was also a really good Paragliding and Slack Lining.

RIP

Mike Hornbeck and Spencer Millbocker for my home hill of Bittersweet. It's pretty cool to see them mobbing around there a lot. Hornbeck worked park crew here last season with me. Both really cool dudes.

This^^^ I'm from the IL/WI stateline area and have personally skied with them at tyrol spring jams for years and events alike. I recently moved west for school at CU, and don't get me wrong, I love skiing Abasin/Breck/Vail every weekend, but something about those friday night hot laps thru an icy park with your boys is so awesome. I'll be back though.

DON'T FORGET YOUR ROOTS PEOPLE. Where you start is just as important as where you finish.
