Loaded Dervish vs Rayne Hustler

Yes, it's a longboard thread, umad?
I've searched around, on this forum and others, and I'e narrowed it down to these two boards. This will be my first "real" longboard purchase. I've ridden a few of my friends' boards so I'm not a complete n00b and I have a general idea of what I like.
To start, I'm 6' and about 165 lbs or so.. I'm going to use this board mainly for cruising around town, carving in, out and around obstacles and what not and commuting. The terrain around here is mostly flat and not always the smoothest and I won't be dealing with any serious inclines. I like carving/pumping and that sort of stuff and maybe some sliding, but sliding isn't my main priority.
As for the rest of the set up, I was thinking either orange 4prez' on the hustler or orange in heat's for the dervish, paris 180s, maybe a 85a supercarve and probably some bones reds.
Price isn't really an issue, so don't let that be a deciding factor between boards.
Any other suggestions are appreciated, thank you!

i love my rayne, and like how noone really knows what it is and it isnt overplayed. Loaded is like a really good burton of longboarding, everyone has em, not saying they are a bad board. youll love either one of them but i am partial to the rayne.. PS i would also look at some of neversummer's new boards, rode one today and had a BLAST on it

Rayne makes great quality boards. Also for what you have described i would look into the Sayshun Crisis. Its one of the most fun boards i have ever ridden

Have you checked out BC longboards, the eel is an awesome board, very similiar to the dervish. I actually like mine more than my the dervishes that I have ridden, just because I find the dervish flex to be abit saggy and not snappy enough.

from what youre saying i feel like the rayne timeline would be a good choice also. its a smaller board for easier moving in and around things

I've had both boards, and it sounds like the hustler is a better board for you. It's really fun to cruise around on and has a great flex (more lively than the dervish), but still bombs well and is really responsive. Plus, it has a small kicktail so once you get used to it, you can kind of hop over small obstacles which is always fun.

This. The rayne your looking at is an asymmetrical board, so it can only go one way. The dervish and the eel are symmetrical so they can go either, the eel is the least expensive option, and i think its definitly the best board you can get for the price range. Also look into sodafactory boards, they make some sweet ones.

or if you want a rayne board more comparable to the dervish or eel, look into the rayne vendetta which is a sick board as well.

Thank you for all the replies so far.
I know about BC boards, I hadn't considered it just because my shop didn't carry them and I wanted to be able to see/feel the board before buying it, I also can't stand waiting for things to arrive in the mail. But I might have to reconsider because the Eel seems perfect for what I'm looking for and is more affordable too..
Anyone with experience ordering from BC know how long it takes? I live in Montreal.

i just smashed my board into a bridge and now i need a new deck. are raynes flexy like bamboo stuff or are they all just like stiff downhill boards like most of the landyachtz ones

From what I understand the Rayne decks are mostly a sandwich construction using bamboo and fiberglass and the Hustler definitely has some flex to it.

Also, if I were to go with the Eel, which flex would be better for me?

im thinking of the rayne vendetta. has anyone riddin it? is it good for freeriding and does it pump well on carves?

the vendetta is built as a freeride orientated board, it is kind of stiff i think, but you should be able to pump with it with relative ease

If you really want to carve around and want something really flexible, go with the fat free especially if you dont plan on riding hills but if you plan on getting into a bit for downhill stuff then go for the boss flex.

Well I think I'm sold on the Eel. From what I've read/heard it's just what I'm looking for, and it's less expensive too. I'm going to order it complete with paris 180s, in heats and some reds.
Thanks for the help everyone!

WAIT!!! do not get Paris unless you are going to make Prandall's. Get Gun Metals. they are amazing, if you want more info ill tell you. Don't get O'tangs, theyre shitty and will be worn down in 2 months, they also have terrible cores. Get Bustin Swifts or Metro Motions
