Living in summit next season?

I'm considering frisco next year depending on my employment situation. Good balance of closeness to everything

Might be looking for a roommate here starting around June,
Above all else I'm looking for someone who is clean and respectful... and should be chill with dogs too cause I have a pretty playful 2 year old husky/malamute mix who would be crashing as well.
I'll post up if I get into a place

im thinking about taking a winter quarter off so a place to live from december to march, around breck anyone?

gonna move to breck this summer (early august) til august of next year. STOKED, but kinda need to start looking for places.

alright it's getting close to being time to look for places. is there anyone seriously looking for a possible room mate in frisco? I'm not a big partier, I like a quieter house and going out to drink n shit... 420 friendly. like long walks on the beach, etc etc

I'm going with the parentals (just because they're awesome at finding the most random places to live) pretty soon. really hoping to not have to rent a condo.

if you can find an affordable place in Summit Cove....do it!!! it's really sick here, a nice neighborhood which is a 5 minute bus ride to keystone, and a 20 minute bus ride to breck which drops you off RIGHT by the gondola. Lately i've been taking the bus to A-Bay which takes a little longer but it's still nice....i guess i like it here because the bus stop is like 10 steps from my door so i got lucky

for those who don't know, Summit Cove is a neighborhood that's sort of in between Dillon and Keystone

do u guys think it would be more convenient to live frisco>breck if you wish to visit woodward a bunch and work a restuarant job during the evenings? Also, is it hard to get a job in breck/frisco at restaurants?

mythreads. considering moving to summit
do you guys have jobs out there? any recommendations for places to look for jobs? interested in social media/digital arts/video production sort of thing, not just a seasonal job at a mountain

super hard brahhh. you got to drop acid and be maintained on shrooms all day to show youre familial dominance

My lowdown on Breck from this past season:
Restaurant jobs are super hard to get, I've been waiting tables and bartending at a casual/formal restaurant for three years in NY with a TIPS cert. and this season I applied to every restaurant in Breck except for Bubba Gump, and did not get hired. This dude shows up in February and is old friends with my neighbor who was a bartender, lands a job waiting tables the next week. Everything here that is not corporate is like a famliy, you need to know someone to get in.
-Walmart is always hiring and they pay 11.40/hr, but that sucks big time. -City Market (Grocery Store in Breck) is hiring most of the time, but it sucks too-Rental shops usually give you a long lunch so you can ski every day.-Working for Vail Sucks, but as a last resort, you get a pass and have a job.
Best of luck you guys, hope this helped some

Exactly right. Also... if you get fired from a job in Summit word can spread like wildfire, so don't do anything dumb. All of my managers from all over the county either know each other or know of each other.

ah...can you elaborate on why working for vail sucks? i'm looking into some of their more office jobs/full time positions. seems like job + pass = OK

^youre here to ski. when you work for VR you become a slave.

sounds like youre trying to find a real person job though. those are okie dokie though. bummin and working for the resorts is lame

That's exactly it, bumming and working for vail sucks, but an office job has more perks than they tell you. There are all kinds of discounts on hotels and great vacation deals for a full time year-round employee through other companies associated with Vail.
Vail is still pretty cheap as a company though; emplyees had to pay to ski at A-basin on spring weekends this year because vail would not fork over the 10 dollars a day that A-basin charges them for Epic pass users to ski at their mountain. They would, however, pay 10 a day for the people who bought epic passes and did not have employee passes. Also, I found this out after taking an hour long bus to A-bay and getting through the semi-crowded lift line, where I was called out by a liftie and had to exit the line. Pretty annoying.
As far as ski bumming goes though, most shops that sell things in any way ski related will give you a pass, it may not be an epic pass, but unless you have a car, you don't leave summit that often.

working at wal-mart or city market isn't that bad, just don't be a lazy shit with no work ethic... lol if you are then yeah go be an idiot liftie. haha

If you are good to the county, the county will be good to you. That being said more specifically to the town of breck. Restaurants, working for vail, etc all have positive sides. I have been working for Vail Resorts for 4 years now and they are cool. Just depends on WHERE/WHAT/WHO are you working for in what department of Vail Resorts. Restaurant jobs like Bubba Gumps are easy to get for your first year. You make good money. Im suprised that the person on this thread didnt get the Bubba job cause I had a first year friend out here apply EVERYWHERE too not knowing anyone and she got a job, however, ended up getting in with Fattys which is awesome for sure. Just keep on it and do not quit. If you give up, you lose and probably do not belong here in Summit then. Those of us that have lived here know what is it all about in the long run.
