Living in LA and skiing

So I am starting college in Los Angeles this fall and I was wondering what the best place in SoCal to go skiing is. I know there is Mammoth and June but what about Bear mountain? Is that place very good? Also what is the avg. drive time from LA to mammoth or Bear mountain? Any general insight is appreciated.

i mostly ride mt high because it is closer and is open from 8:30 to 10 everyday. Bear is a better mountain but i usually do not have time to go there if i have afternoon classes. what school are you going to and look through this forum there is at least ten of these threads asking the same thing and they have more opinion and information.

mtn high in wrightwood of the 15 or 395 depending where u come from its about 2 hours from la but its my homw mountain and i dongt even like it that much theres not that many skiers and its a small mountain if you go to mountain high west

i moved down here like a year ago , and i ski up at bear, its prolly a little farther than mt.high, but way better its nothing special but if you like park its pretty fun and they change up the features pretty often

Nah as far as the parks go Bear's isn't double the drive better than Mt. High's. If you just doing park its not worth the extra drive really. If there's good snow its worth it though, or if you have a weekend.

Driving from Downtown LA I average 4.5 hours to 5 hours. Driving from San Dimas/ Fullerton area 5 hours to 5.5 hours. If I speed from LA I have done just under 4.5 hours cause you can only speed in a few areas with out having to worry about a ticket.
Bear... not entire sure, I've been in entirely different conditions the back way and the front way so I don't really have an average there.
