Little landis' interview

do you have any videos of landis from this year?i want to see some becasue he is so so so so sick. did you know he used to film with poorboyz?
 
this post mirrors my thoughts pretty much
legit skier, good editor, thoughtful guy, but too caught up in his own self-importance. lots of good ideas, but he'll need to develop them further so that his future interviews don't come off as a pretentious jumble of quasi-intelligent thoughts.
 
actually he does talk like that. he talks however he wants. thats what differentiates him from the rest of you drones...whatever happened to the saying "to each his own"....too many of you are caught up in your judgemental ways

^i bet he does talk like that. and it's great! we need more thinkers in skiing for sure. but the words he uses require cohesive thought behind them to be effective. he gets really close, but you can tell that the depth of his vocab just barely outreaches his power to use it effectively. i'm sure that in three years he will have all his ideas on point, but at the present moment, his delivery seems like it exceeds his grasp of his own thoughts... the result comes off as pretense.

 
^no dude, i don't expect an english professor. that's my point! i expect a 17 year old. i have mad respect and have been a big fan of landis' work and his skiing, and i think it is really sick what he's been able to accomplish before the age of 17!
but when a 17 year old tries to connect ideas that aren't quite so well thought out (see hennie's post), or elevate his prose to a level that reads like it's beyond his capability, it doesn't come across as genuine any more. it comes across as though he's either pretentious or trying too hard.
i'd like to meet him, because i think he's probably not either in real life. but i think it's fair to point out that that's the (probably unintended) impression that comes across from the way he presented himself in that interview.
 
Who gives a fuck that his vocabulary knowledge may not be used properly. Hate to bring age into this mess but the dude is only 17 years young. The most important thing is that he understands that life is best lived out through your own perspective and nobody else's.

plus he's sponsored! so we should all talk and walk like he does
 
Disregard my comment about age, I know a lot of kids my age that are a lot more wise than 80 year olds.

why does age matter?
 
Do your next interview on the phone in my opinion to get more raw answers straight from the heart. Unless you were going for the opposite which is cool, not sure what you wanted to go for. But you can tell he had a lot of time to think and portray to people the way he really wanted to.

get over yourselves! he has a refreshing outlook on skiing and has the balls to be who he wants. that says a lot more than you people who talk shit on the internet!

Its spelled Alyeska...and Alaska doesn't get as much attention aside from big mountain comepetitions and it was a big deal that the freeskiing nationals were there last year but thats just one competition
