Little 4th of July reminder....

that just sounded like a france-bashing post to me. as if all french people were stupid enough to argue with an old man on whether or not he showed his passport when he had visited before. as if french people were rude to enough to make statements like the ones that were posted.

but yeah, power to americans bashing other countries and all. i personally wasn't happy to find that my country (canada) was included in that english-speaking posse "quote."

Despite some of my issues with America, after being in San Diego harbour/bay whatever its called. After seeing all those battle ships one can only think one thing:

"FUCK YA!!1!!1!"

Happy early 4th of July from a friendly Canadian

No they were pretty much on the verge of losing. Churchill was forced into an underground apartment. Britain was being bombed every night. London was in complete rubble. They couldn't do shit in France. The only place that England was making any progress was in Africa and that was with America's help. Given enough time HItler would have in fact gathered the force and strength to conquer England. Yes the first time was a failure, but he would have succeeded given the time. It was not that late that they helped with supplies. They had been sending them over in cruise ships for quite some time. True they were not "sent" over but everyone kind of knew what was going on.

Land asked in return? Just the land asked to bury our dead? I THINK NOT!

How about.. Guam.. Puerto Rico.. Guantanamo Bay.. The Phillipines.. Bases in Japan.. Australia.. South Korea.. Germany.. Islands all throughout the pacific ocean.. Plus countless others I do not remember/know of due to secrecy.

Colin Powell? STFU PWNED.

Aerospace engineering is a super broad category even though it doesnt seem like it. Things like how a boat moves in the water is directly in that field. Not saying a boeing engineer would have much to do with it but then again you could probably look up those facts on the internet.

actually from what i can tell, aerospace engineering is solely aircraft and spacecraft. Thats pretty much the meaning of the word aerospace, but those are facts about a carrier that anyone who's ever seen a discovery channel program or looked it up on wikipedia could easily know.

i wasnt expecting a good thread before i opened it, but then i read all four, and now its one of my favorite threads

always amuses me to see people call the french pussies and other myriad names... as if the accusers are actually the ones doing the fighting. there is no 'we' in this war, or in any others for that matter.

Ok, im just going to point out why alot of the british hate america. You go into war for no reason, drag us in with you, get all our soldiers killed and even kill some of our soldiers in freindly fire incidents, then after you killed out soldies in freindly fire incidents, the pentagon say it never happened and dont release the tape for ages.

Then, if we went into a war like the falklands, jsut like we did before, would you come along and help us, no, you didnt last time and you wont this time.

Oh, and if you want to see a navy, come to england-

Triton31.jpg

Why Would you say that? It doesnt turn up on radar,it is one of the fastest navy ship to date and just because you can see its guns (there hidden under the deck because if they were on deck a radar would detect them) diesnt mean is not good.

... God damn! Feels good talking up our country up by bashing other, don't it?

You know, it could be that the reason the British are a little bit miffed is BECAUSE OUR COUNTRY IS FULL OF FUCKING LOUDMOUTH ASSHOLES WHO GET OFF ON TALKING SHIT ABOUT HOW GOOD MY COUNTRY IS COMPARED TO YOURS.

Not like you of course.

Oh, and its kinda hypocritical to say that the UN and NATO dont work when we are the sole country that superscedes and negates the organizations effectiveness by acting like Rosie O'Donnell in full PMS when it comes to military force.

ummm, have to disagree...i'm canadian, and your soldiers like to tear our guys to pieces 'by accident' as well. i've always wondered whether we should just have an "accident" of our own and show you how it feels to have your country's soldiers killed by people who are supposed to be your allies. people don't forget.

Asain_allen im going to correct you on parts of your argument, and unfortunatly my dad was linked, in some way, to both parts of my argument. For the Falklands part, my dad was flying harriers in the falklands war, and, he could tell you, it was hell. His friends died out there, the argentineans were constantly attacking and they hardly got any sleep. And, contrary to what you said, battles were fought on the land, what has been sais to be a mini D day landing was done and many british soldiers got killed, even today inoccent civilians are getting killed in the falklands from argentinian land mines, which when placed, were placed in their millions. Also, all england asked of America was that the american fuel on the island of Ascension could be used by the british navy to transport the task force to the falklands, the US said NO, which meant we had to bring many support ships (which give out fuel) with us.

Also about the freindly fire, heres a document stateing EVERY freindly fire incident in the recent Iraq war-

March 22: A British Royal Air Force (RAF) Tornado jet is accidentally shot down by a US Patriot missile. The Tornado's two crew are killed. (My dads good freind being the pilot, my dad, and me, lost a great freind, this paticular one enrages me the most)

March 24: Two British soldiers are killed when their tank is mistakenly targeted by another British tank in southern Iraq.

March 27: 37 US Marines are injured when US troops mistakenly fire at each other near the southern city of Nasiriyah.

March 28: A British soldier is killed and four others are injured in the region of Basra when a US A-10 ground attack aircraft fires on them.

April 2: An F-18 US fighter jet is downed, probably by a US Patriot missile. The pilot is reported missing.

April 3: A US serviceman mistaken for an Iraqi soldier is shot dead by his own troops in central Iraq.

April 6: 18 Kurdish fighters are killed and 45 wounded near Arbil in northern Iraq when US aircraft mistakenly bomb a joint US-Kurdish convoy.

I do not see any of the above being a britsh mistake, ALL american.

kinda...true thats what an aerospace engineer would learn in school but schooling just gives a foundation. Im going to school for aeronautical engineering which is very similar and im taking mostly aircraft classes. My friend who is also an aeronautical engineer that graduated from the same school now works for a heating a cooling company. The skills translate to many areas, not just in the fields that you train for.

Btw, America had been pumping money and amunition into Allied powers to help them since the BEGINING of WWII. Remember that good old lend-lease act? That helped European countries out a lot. Also, the U.S. had to ration food, just like Britain did too. America just did a better job about it. The only true upside that the U.S. had is that there was no actual "rebuilding" that had to take place after the war was over. The only invasion that happened on the U.S. was that that took place at Pearl Harbor. Just some little things.

.02 cents

Call me crazy, but I'm going to give a little more weight to the guy whose dad fought in the war, vs. you who are just rattling off facts. And 250 people may not seem like a lot, but imagine being in a room full of 250 people. It's more than you think.

don't forget about the standard oil company supplying the axis and ford's factories in germany being one of the only factories in the city it was based to not get demolished by bombs.....

England was on the verge of losing the war, if America hadn't of entered the war, England would've been taken over. The only hope for Europe would've been Russia.

you also have to factor in the british civilians. They would fight til the last standing man to hold their ground. The british proved that they would fight hard to keep their own ground

i'm proud to point out that the canadians were THE ONLY division to complete one of their objectives on d-day, they were up against the highest seawall out of all the beaches, and they were the only divisions who had to compete with nazi tiger tanks after taking the beach (you can look it up if your mind is closed tighter than your pussy).

so i don't think anybody has the right to say that the americans won the war for everyone, it was a group effort. and to the people who say that america was the reason the war was won by allied forces, you have no idea just how far an american veteran would shove their foot up your "patriotic" ass for saying that. clearly you didn't hear, there is no 'i' in team.

nobody has the right to go spouting off about how great their armed forces are without joining them.

I'm sorry but who won the battle of britan witch stopped the germains gaining air superority.........??

(huh i remembered something from history for once.)

No, their aircraft did not carry air to air missiles, but, they did carry air to ground missiles for sinking ships, and harriers were constantly scrambled to intercept these fighters before this happenes-

Thats just one of the ships shot by argentinan foces.

And heres the reckage of an Royal Navy helicopter shot down carrying marines into a assault on stanley hill.

Above were just afew examples of losses in the war. 250, doesnt sound like alot maybe, but think 250 people and all the familes that lost close ones lives, freinds and family. Thats alot of people who lost loved ones. We also have to take into account all the civilians that got, in a way, held hostage on the island when argentina took it over, nearly all of them british.

I recommend this book to you-

Because you seriously need to know what really happened in the falklands before you start saying shit about it, i think i might just know more than you, considering my dad was an active part of it.

Actually, If I trully hate this widespread anti americanism from left hand parties in France (I am french), I trully hate actual americans taking credit for their grand fathers have done.

Wouldn't you be pissed French people constantly reminding you you would cheer the Queen of england if we had not helped you back to Lafayette's times?

I can understand this kinda remarks may come from french anti maericanism. However, as I'm not part of them (I and my brothers ahve rebuild 3 ford jeeps that made the battle of normandy), I trully hate this kind of "remember you owe us something".

I like to think France and USA are friends, and when I help a friend, I don't feel like he owes me something nor I feel like reminding him what I've done for him.

I also notice that in these stories, the french is always the fuc.ker.

But here is a fact: USA is the only allied country France never was in war against. USA and France have never been in war against each other.

Even if it's too late, happy 4th of july to american people.

PS: German is a wonderful language too

i do take credit for what my forefathers have done, an my creat great grand kids will take credit for shit i've done

hmmm, idk

but i like german girls

I fully agree with what you said, perhaps in part because I too am French. I like the way you put it, about doing friends favors without expecting anything in return. The problem seems to be that if someone disagrees with the US, the opposition is immediately wrong. But oh well, i suppose thats just the way that a lot of people are. And it is true, Americans do forget that the French helped them in the Revolutionary War. But you do not hear the French bringing that up daily. This is what you do, an ally is in trouble, you help them out.

Have you ever talked to veterans or gone to the beaches in normandy? I have, and the vast majority of them have a completely different attitude and show a deep respect for anyone who did any fighting.

America is called the land of opportunity, celebrate that instead of taunting other countries
