overall pretty good. how long have they been in the game?

my personal opinion- i enjoyed the faster songs better mostly because slower lyrics tend to bring out emotion more which they lacked at certain points. not saying it was bad, but you really gotta emphasize and have strong rhymes when you're not spitting rapid fire. my favorites were probably chasing my dream and passing me by in 09, but all were pretty nice. like the other guy said the beats were relatively chill, i'd like to maybe hear something harder.

again, just my opinion but good job

Here's what it sounds like:
White kids trying to rap with Garageband beats. The lyrics sucked, and nothing new or unique was brought to the table by these kids. The fake rapper stylings and the fake white/ghetto accent make it sound horrible. Granted, the beats were alright, even for Garageband, but they weren't good, and they weren't memorable. They were just beats.
I'm not trying to be a dick, but you kids need to learn the difference between "Hay look guize! I just made an album jk lolz!! IMMA BE FAMOZ!!" and serious musicianship and craft. The rappers that are actually famous in this world don't just sit at home and write about their trust funds and how Alta only got 8 feet this year. They work damn hard at what they do, constantly getting out there and learning in a real scene with other talented people. They learn flow and teach themselves to write lyrics and they actually work hard to get good. Kids need to stop making beats on their computer and autotuning the shit out of their singing and actually learn their craft if they wanna get good.
Also, thank you for not autotuning the shit out of everything.

number 4's beat was dope. lyrics are pretty straight forward especially the chorus, doesn't give ya much to think about.. which i guess if they're going more for radio friendly music is good.

But they came up with some pretty good beats, and they learned how to do their thang and they did it well.

Ok Arabian thanks for your comment but seriously dude...

They are actually a fairly popular duo with the college crowd. They aren't two park rat skiers just foolin around, they are incredibly talented students (one at UPenn the other at Tufts). You obviously didn't give them a chance, they deserve some respect. Their style is fresh and it's not like other crap out there. They are starting a collab with Mike Posner and well I think they're gonna be huge.

But anyways I appreciate your feedback and they will too.

Don't believe it for a second. BUT
If they are gonna end up doing well, remind them that uniqueness is what's gonna get them paid. Good beats, good concepts, and good lyrics. And always base it on the truth. People can tell when you're bullshitting them.

Just because their popular doesn't make them good. Honestly I didn't think they were very good at all. Their beats were boring and generic. The lyrics were wack. The rapper had poor flow and little emotion. They sound like a bunch of white kid wannabees to me.

that they are popular with the "college" crowd is not very impressive, especially if these bros play their set in between shitty Asher Roth and OAR at all the bro parties. And no, this isn't fresh at all, whatever "fresh" means. Its the same shit everyone with a Mac pumps out.

hahaha wait so you're trying to hate on these kids for weak rhymes, beats, and not bringing anything new to the table, but then you respect the post-emo hipsters with a lack of any lyrical knowledge who rely on pushing buttons and post production to make tween/teen radio hits? get real man.

i try to never hate on anyone, and i won't on 3oh!3 because they're doing something "right" to appeal to the younger demographic. like asher roth they made music that sells, it just happens to be terrible terrible music

Yeah, they are pretty bad, but you have to admit that their sound is not just something you heard on garageband, and their lyrics are entertaining, even if they're no Bob Dylan.

their sound is something i haven't heard before because they're just taking aspects from pop/all american rejects groups and electronica and combining them. sure i'll admit that the first time i heard don't trust me i thought it was funny enough to listen to once or twice, but they're comedic/parody tendencies wore off quickly and none of their other songs (that i've heard) are anywhere near as "entertaining" as don't trust me. they put all their "lyrical creativity" into one basket and what resulted was a hit for the pop top 40 crowd, but any signs of talent faded away with the song.

i didn't mean to change the direction of this thread but i just think you (Arabian) should realize that sure, the duo stillakilla posted might not be "fresh" or groundbreaking, but that's not what they were going for (i think). honestly how many hip hop artists have you recently heard that have changed the game or really brought something new to the table? i think these guys are just trying to get their foot in the door. a mixtape is often like a project or experiment, they're not trying to be gangsta/ghetto rappers like you said, they're just two more guys who enjoy making music.

Wow they are fucking horrible. Tell them I said they need to hang themselves before they damage anyone else's ears~

That's true, but then why do this then? It's obvious that they want recognition for their effort, but their effort shows no skill, no love of music, and no individuality! If they really loved what they did, they'd go out of their way to learn everything about the art and try and be the best they can. This is not representative of an "Artist". This sounds like 2 kids found garageband and decided to rap.
And if they're just in it for the money, like 90% of rappers today, I say FUCK YOU to them and they should kill themselves. It makes every legitimate artist trying to break past the corporate hell pop/rap look bad and kills real music.
Also as for 3oh3, was it because of their song, or the fact that they played it on the radio every other song? You can't blame 3oh3 for writing a good song. Blame the media for whoring it out til it got herpes and died.

Here is their first attempt at becoming a one-hit wonder:

won't let me quote your previous post but

i understand what you're saying. maybe i'm wrong but it seems to me like the guys the OP posted definately aren't in it for the money or to get really huge. im sure in the back of their minds they'd love to blow up and go big and what not, but it's not realistic right now. i really think they just liked playing around with lyrics and beats and decided that they enjoyed the result, so why not see what other people think. according to the OP they recieved a pretty positive response which i'm sure kept them going and gave them the push to release a mixtape.

and as for 3oh!3 it was the song. they wrote it knowing/hoping it would become overplayed to hype up their group, but when people started checking out their album it failed to deliver the humor/creativity they showed in don't trust me. i don't really like agruing about music because obviously everyone has different tastes and "good music" is totally subjective, i just think you should maybe consider different perspectives when critiquing music

for the most part, white people should not rap. This stuff is pretty bad, but not much worse than most of the stuff you hear nowadays, old school shit had heart to it.... this is just lame.

yeah dude. without the chorus this shit would be dope.
and arabian, if you can make beats like that on garageband, you are a hero. a fucking hero.
fuck spelling
