List YOUR Top 10 BBC Radio 1 Essential Mixes

So many I'm due for downloading...

As far as Essentials, It goes Kaskade, Nero, Miike Snow

This mix by Diplo is amazing, I've been listening to it non-stop since I found it.

The cow has four sides, top, right, left, and bottom. I do not know much about the cow, so I will now go on to talk about the mau5. The mau5... sounds... like... this... *drops*

And they put on some pop shit. It was his headline gig and some spoiled brats in the VIP section decided they'd rather listen to Flo Rida.

holy threads. i agree with so many of these. dont really have a top 10 because theyre all sooooo good. really love the nero one mainly because i was insane about them when it released and always gets me on a high as well as magnetic man. major lazer is dope as well. doesnt really count but most of the diplo and friends mixes have been extremely entertaining for me as well

Dub =/= Dubstep. Stop bastardizing the English language, americans. It makes you look stupid and it causes confusion.

And Skream is not the 'king' of dubstep. It may seem so to people like OP who are obviously quite new to the genre, but there are many producers and DJ's alike who rank far above Skream. Youngsta, Mala, Loefah, Hatcha, Darqwan, Benny Ill, Kode9...to name a few.

I don't mean to start this argument, but everything he said was just plain wrong and needed to be cleared up.

Ive definitely heard a lot of those people you just listed use the word "dub" at some point.

And yeah, all those dudes were essential to dubstep as well, but Skream was a pretty huge part of it.

Not to mention a lot of those dudes had actual dub influences. The whole dubplate movement, even a lot of the sound. Idk, just doesnt really seem facepalm necessary to me.

Ok i would most deff not put youngsta above skream at all(completely disregard post 2008 skream though)

But let's get real, they are all pretty bad compared to some of the techno gods >:)

marco corola's from 2012 was really good

so was my man richie's

Hawtin's set was a live set from a club in Berlin, not really BBC. But, talking about techno God's, Carl Craig's from a year or two back was amazing. Loved when he dropped Ben Klock's classic "Sub Zero." You can't beat that Detroit sound!

Eric Prydz' new one from January is out of this world.

Arty of course. Alesso's is also up there. Mat Zo too.

Give this a listen though.. free DL too.

Yeah, in reference to dub. Not dubstep. The new 'dub' definition is just a lazy and false vulgarism conjured by the skrillex generation, such as OP, to make them sound and feel hip.

For sure, im not denying that, but to say he is the king of dubstep is just wrong. He's been a massive part of the movement, but you need to take into account that he wasn't really a pioneer of the genre, AND, alongside Benga, has started the move towards the dark side. I have the utmost respect for the dude, but there are artists above him.

He is the best DJ in dubstep at the moment, bar possibly Oneman. He is also the biggest and most respected name in Dubstep at the moment, one of the main men leading the movement to keep the true sound alive. Not to mention the fact he has started producing again after a decade long hiatus, and has put forth some absolute monsters, showing a very promising future.

I suppose it's hard to compare the two due to the fact their glory days occurred in different eras, but i feel Youngsta has done and will do more for dubstep than Skream will ever do.

Horsepower, without question. Skream though only started producing what was then dubstep in like 03, 04. Benny and Hatcha were somewhat Skreams main mentors, they brought him up through that new sound and influenced him massively.

The likes of Zed Bias, Slaughter mob, Horsepower, Oris, El-B etc, were well in their stride with their new stripped back, darker productions before Skream joined the bandwagon. THEY were the pioneers, and Skream, at that stage, was just a spectator.

everyone raves about Nicholas Jarr's, I'm not a fan though.

Recently i'm a fan of Joris Voorn's from 2009

I think I listened to it, can't even remember though...Completely forgot about that guy until you posted this though. I'm listening to Space is Only Noise right now, really cool album. Now I need to go track down his essential mix.
