List of the greatest movies that always get overlooked

the royal tennebaums was very good. it's more mainstream but still overlooked for what it was.

How about fight club I know every college student has a hard on for that movie but main stream people didnt pay much attention.

The Seventh Seal is considered a classic by most people and taught in most film classes so I wouldn't say it doesnt get recognized. Just cause most younger people don't know it doesn't mean it hasnt been widely acclaimed. Its like saying The Maltese Falcon is underrated.

blow

boondock saints

green street hooligans....no one has ever seen this, but its soooo good, you MUST go see it

i have to agree.

some of the movies posted are good, but the LAST thing scarface and boondock saints need are more publicity. in fact id vote them for the most overrated movies ever

Boiler Room

Boogie Nights
- hurray for 70's pron

Run Lola Run - if you like techno... this is a must movie.

Doom Generation- this is a totally fucked movie, you been warned.

A Clockwork Orange - for me its mainstream, but way worth it.

Henry - Portrait of a Serial Killer ( hard to find, its not very bloody, but it will scare the hell out of you when you meet strangers.)

Owning Mahoney - ( spelling? but its about a degenerate gambler, and how a casino helps his addiction, based on true story in Canada.)

Toxic Avenger - NJ's own superhero. theres like 19 movies -- great for parties.

Mean Creek - kids have to cover up a murder of their own, tragedy.

Woodsman - a pedo adjusting to life outside prison, mainstream actors.

Three o'clock High - fight in school

Nueve reinas ( nine queens ) - its in spanish with sub-titles, about two con man scamming a stamp collector, it sounds boring, buts a great movie if you like conman. IMDB says it won a ton of nominations and stuff. I saw it on IFC.

2001: a space odyssey. Atleast when it came out it was hated on. Now it is generally regarded as a masterpeice. anyway Stanley Kubrick is my Idol.

A movie that I love but is not regarded as great: Tombstone. 2 scenes that made the movie for me: The scene where Morgan dies, and the scene where Doc dies is poetic. I just wish they would have ended the movie there.

so many films on here couldn't be more mainstream and less what this thread was supposed to be about.

having said that Empire Records was massively underrated and is/was awesome film.

Name it:

the god's must be crazy and idiocracy.

i dont really know if the gods must be crazy is overlooked or not, but it's funny as hell, socially relevant, and not too many people in our generation have seen it.

idiocracy can seem sortof dumb at face value on a first glance, but if you get the point of the movie, you will be shocked to realize how much of it is already represented in society today.

aside from ones listed im gonna have to go with;

Lucky Number Slevin

Kids

Dead Man Walking

Hotel Rwanda

Harold and Maud (if your open minded to it)

surfs up

and the Boondock Saints has become such a damn popular movie. everyone has seen it. maybe 2 years ago it wasnt main stream but it definatly is now.

main stream??? you mean unlike lucky number slevin with those unknown actors josh hartnett, bruce willis, morgan freeman?

dunno about where you're from but where i live that film was definitely not overlooked in any way and is 100% mainstream.

The Big Lebowski might be one of the best written movies ever. I love it.

Out Cold is awesome... not an epic movie and the acting wasn't the best, but overall I like it

the life aquatic

bottle rocket

ong bak

a clockwork orange

american splendor

black cat white cat

ciao professore

blues brothers

the good the bad and the ugly

butch cassidey and the sundance kid
