Lipslides

On sunday I was having trouble hitting a rail so I tried doing a lipslide onto it. I found I can lock into the rail better that way than entering the rail normally. Has anyone else found that? Why is it easier to lock in?

I always found lip harder... might be one of those things that is different for everyone.

Honestly, I can kind of see how lip could be easier for some people. I think it forces you to be more forward leaning as you get on, therefore you would be able to lock in easier? idk it certainly isn't easier for me, just an idea

I found I had been exiting the rail early and I think lipslides forced me to really commit to the rail.

a couple of my snowboarder buddies used to prefer lipslides (front lip vs regular bs). lipslides arent super tough so preferring them seems reasonable

For me, I can do higher rails by doing lip-on because to get higher, I just lift my knees up more, whereas regular on, it is harder to lift your knees.

i always slide rails way more cleanly when i lip onto them, however i dont feel as locked in. its weird

Same for me OP. I started doing lipslides because i'd just go over the rail if i tried regular slides. But when I lip on I am a lot better at locking in to the rail. You aren't alone. In fact, you have a bright future because of it. Just don't get in the habit of lip-stepping on. Its a tough habit to break.
