For some reason I remmember them having a patent on having same height tips and tails on skis. Is this true?

so do they make money off selling the patent to companies like K2, that also advertise having true twins?

3 possiblities

1-Line doesn't enforce their patent

2-Line does, and yes, they make money everytime another company makes a true twintip ski

3-No other company makes a true twintip ski. I wouldn't say K2 does from what I've seen.

Bahahaha... or, you could call it the 'elitist snob' cult. Anyways, my family already owns a country club, so no thanks.

i dont think anybody else makes a "true twin tip" they prolly come extremly close tho

'....a ninja skier probly came by and whacked him with his pole.... thats my guess' -nordas-

well i may be incorrect but i would guess that the "loophole" is just make them not EXACTLY the same height. for instance, a lot of the lines are 55mm/55 mm.

k2 or someone could probably do 55/54 and get away with it, and there is NO way you can notice a mm difference

prolly like 120, me and bob white (linesnowblades) hit it once and the same time and went so big out blades fell off!!!!!!! We were like shit our blades just fell off, thats not supposed to happen!!!! What a day.

well armada has the jp vs julien which has a higher tail than tip...so if u cant match it..beat it!

even if Line does have a patent, the costs in legal fees required to enforce it may be too great for line to undertake. there have been cases where patent holders see their claimed ideas reproduced simply because they did not have the means to enforce it. just because you have a patent does not mean that the police will be knocking on the door of anyone violating your patent.

why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice?

really the jb vs.julien is large on tip then tail...that shit is whack...

Origanlly 1260's were true twins dead even back n front.. my chrons now r almost exact, but the fron is a couple mm bigger, but its impossible to tell

^No... they should be identical. They're produced with 56mm of and 56mm of tail. The only lines without true twins are Assassins.

got on a pair of invaders today, those are completely symetrical, 83 underfoot, butter zones (core thinner in front and behind binding). these are funn funn park skis, taking buttering to the next level, and 300 MSRP is pretty cheap too for a sweet ski. (sorry to sound like an ad but i like em)

its probably just for bragging rights

whats next? patenting the dimensions of a specific ski? so every other ski with the same dimensions has to pay royalties? i think that patent is pretty useless.

most of this years lines aren't true anyways. measure them yourself it's the truth. My Mothership Ti's have 2mm higher tails than tips. When you make a ski by hand no one is exactly the same. They just have nearly even mold heights and that doesn't really translate exactly especially when you're talkin milli's.

you wouldn't even be able to patent something like that. it has to be original and unique

why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice?

thank you for your clever insight into this situation.

it is funny because line's true twin is not actually a true twin. a true twin would be a ski that if turned sideways it would be symettrical. no ski company has ever made a true twin. a true twins sidecut would be like 120-90-120.

Actually, we made the world's first true twin, the 1260, a completely symmetrical ski. This was only the case for the first two years when the ski what white/sidewall construction and orange DJ sidewall construction.

For next year we are re-introducing a true twin tip with the invader, 110-83-110, centered stance, totally symmetrical ski.

And also, yeah we own the patent, but no we don't enforce it. We don't want to hold back skiing's progression. I freely encourage all ski companies to make equal height tip and tail skis.

scratch bc and pr are the same sidecut but different lengths, makes the pr look wider but not true in all sizes.

Scratch bc has a higher tail than tip, not identical with different angles and different heights.

Brand new Giro 9. MX size XL color black from s&c.com will ship to canda PM me. XL = 59-61.5cm.

how tall is the bc's tail compared from the tip in mm?
