It has just been brought to my attention that Line has an equal tip-tail patent. Jib_This said that Armada found a way around it by making a higher tail, but why cant a company just make it a suttle height difference? like a couple mm?

i think thats a load of crap. but if its true then a diff of 1 mm would make it legal.

'The original, one-of-a-kind, patented, equal height tip and tail: the design that started the twin tip revolution.'

Right off Line's website.

Seems like patenting equal tip/tail height is a smart idea...at least business wise. I'm not hating on Line, it's just the first thing that popped into my head when I saw that Armada ski, and I chuckled.

yeah its true thats why i dont support them, by doing that there causing other companys like k2 and armada to do tricky shit like k2 has to have a smaller tail but more of an angle so it looks like its equal, lines keeping companys from progressing, just get over it there not saving any money by it

i cant describe the vibe i get when i drive by 6 people and 5 i hit

Oh, and just to clarify a little thing, in case you thought otherwise: I don't work for Armada or have any kind of association with them. I'm just some idiot with too much time on his hands and and a small chunk of ski product knowledge. I think their product is cool though, and that's it. If I can come up with $749.99 plus applicable taxes for a pair of ARVs, I might even be an owner next year.

I need to make two points of clarification before this gets out of hand.

1.) Line does have the patent on twin tip skis, it's patent no. des.378647

2.) We purposely don't enforce the patent in order to not inhibit progression. We believe that having the ability to ski fakie is key to the survival of our sport, and whether you ride our skis or one of our competitors, at least you're skiing.

Armada, or K2 or anybody else does not need to find ways around our patent, we simply want to remind you that we've been here since the beginning, pushing the sport, and innovating products to support your style of skiing.

Just to let you know, we've invested a significant amount of time and money into

R&D this year resulting in the most complete product line focused on progressive skiing we've ever offered. We've created six brand new ski models from the ground up, and modified others to provide you with the most diverse product offering ever. From low priced, forgiving skis to super high end, stiff, snappy skis Line has got you covered. We hope you'll be happy with what we've come up with.

Thanks for riding Line, but more importantly, thanks for being skiers.
