I was looking at he ski shop today and wondering why lines areso expensive. The pro models are 710 dollers no other twin tips are that much so I think it is bs how much they charge. LIne is a tight company but they are overpriced in my mind but I know i am probably in the minority by thinking this.

 
Its because they are on a tight budget and cant afford to have low prices like other the company’s. I guaranty you that they will lower their prices when they make their money back from that new binding. That’s where all their money has gone is into the binding. Also for this year they only have 5 main pros on their team because that’s all they can afford. So if anyone is planning on trying to get on the flow team don’t bother because they can’t support you right now.

That's suggested Retail. They are streeting at $499, and they have skis for $349 and $399. That shop is stickin' it to you.

Line, just like everyother company, sells it stuff to the stores at a price that is above cost. (i.e.-the cost to make one set of skis plus some cash for profit.) I would bet that they sell their skis at a wholesale price of about $170-190 to the stores. Line is still making a profit, (actual cost of a set of skis about $100-120). The stores are the ones that jack to prices so that they can make a profit. Kinda sucks but it's better than communism.

 
Sorry my bad. I mean the suggested was 710 but hey were cheaper. I still think it is dumb that they charge so much as a suggestion.

 
yea i can tell you the cost on line skis (price the shop pays) is around 245 plus or minus 60 bucks depending on the model. usually shops mark up 200% and then they have sales at 20% of which means that they (the shoP) are still making 80% if you go into a shop, make a hassel and ask for 20% off at least.

 
dude i dont want to be on there side but dont u think they need to make money too everything that you buy from a store that coasts like over 100 bucks is marked up over 200% thats just the way it is

 
i'd say the shops make 175-200 on a pair of skis, they aern't getting them for 100-200 bucks. if so some shope would open up and sell everything for 150 bucks less and own the market

My family is in the retail bussiness so i know whats going on. I dont know how much some skis are marked up but the atomic 10.22 are $400 for the shop and like 900 retail. the ski companies set the retail price but some shops will sell the skis for more $ and other times they are on sale but the retail price is set by the ski company not the retail shop so complain to them

It was probably $710 because it was the handmade model there are a few skis out there that are made by hand so they price em wat 2 high

 
hand made model skis are much higher priced then that. take last years dynastar's. they were selling in our shop for 3 grand. they are hand made and only 50 were produced. i would say that 710 is just a pricing error. i make errors all the time when i tag stuff in my shop.
