Line Skis going bankrupt?

I heard this rumour and was wondering if its true. I noramlly dont bring up rumors like this but since they fired their whole team except for 2 riders I think this might be real.

also I heard K2 might be buying them.

can anyone confirm any of these rumours?

shit man, maybe that was the cover up for dropping all their pros, cuz they dont have any bank to pay them with...but i really doubt it

there's been some speculation that line is low on money. I don't think bankrupt, but I wouldn't be overly surprised if they were doing this because they saw taht they MAY be short on cash.

but if they where going bankrupt would you think that they would have gone to the trouble to do the rd for this years skis and just do rehashes of last years skis

i was thinking that too

small team

no new binding improvements

sudden love of 'grassroots' advertisements (cheaper)

I want my next pair of skis to be line skis and binding. hopefully they dont go anywhere

I think the invaders are gonna change that though... a cheap, solid, fun, park ski that EVERYONE has...

evidence is there, but if they were low on cash, they wouldnt have came out with so many different skis and tech. this year, more or less just changed the graphics

But then again, jason may just be up to his old hijinks of trying to revolutionize the sport (which he has done a few times). So they might have money, I mean, they DID just move to a new factory and they added a bunch of new skis.

It seems that there is more evidence that they aren't short on money.

i heard a lot of kids having delam trouble with the invaders, which cant be good if they have to warrenty that shit, i hope they dont go under, we cant loose a core ski company

i've been on my invaders for about 5 or 6 days now, and they are holding up pretty well. some chunks taken out of the topsheet, but thats nothing a little resin wont fix. they are a sick ski for sure. they definately lost out on the binding with how many they had to replace, but i think the real reason they pulled it was because its just not up to par yet. the concept is there, but it needs more tweaking. as far as the team goes, they dont really need anyone else. they have a ton of kids on flow who they hook up with product who are going to get the word out a lot better than, say, 5 mid level pros like they had before (not knocking the talent of anyone on line's team last year, but they aren't tanner or jon). keeping pollard and ashley on board makes sense, because you have two of the top atheletes in the sport to prototype and test skis, and then tons of grassroots kids to hype them up. seems like a safe bet to me.

I would literally cry if Line died. But then again if it did, that jason dude would most definitely launch a new company with the support of pros, it would be like a new armada.

I think Line is definitely low on cash. All the moves they have made recently only seem to point to that. However, if they continue to have the support of people like newschoolers.com then they hopefully will always be making skis on some level.

Well, they would be bankrupt and we wouldnt be able to buy Lines anymore. And those stickers and stensils you put all over everything in creation would rep a nonexistant company.

i doubt they're going bankrupt. i would fire my whole pro-team if they didn't do shit either. hmmmmm when was the last time skogen or mike nic had a long kick ass movie seg or even competed in a comp?

i talked to j lev at the ski expo and he said he's trying to bring skiing back to you, the skier, thats why he started the skier's union and why line only has two pros. it might be b/s but its striaght from the belly of the beast

I understand what J Lev is saying...I guess...or maybe I think it is total bullshit and a cover that they are really doing very bad business wise right now. I haven't decided yet...

speculation kills, people are so ignorant...

I see no reason why Line would be in trouble, they've been around for more than 10 years, they are established if you ask me...

no, line and karhu used to come out of the same factory (dont know if they still do) they used the same presses but different flexes for tele-ing

what happens if my invaders fall apart then line goes bankrupt? can they still replace them?

you all realize that a corporation's financial information is public information, right? buy a share of stock in Line and you'll get a whole packet of info about the company- probably more information than you can set on fire at once without a permit. instead of people just gossiping about this shiz, it would be nice to see someone who cares to find out the facts. that all being said, i don't give a shit, so i'm sure as hell not going to do the research.

give me a few minutes and i'll try to find that out. as i said, though, i don't really care, so if i don't find their ticker symbol shortly, i'm giving up.

damn, that's what i was afraid of. they're still a corporation, though, so all their finacial records are available if you know where to go.

it's 12:30 and i'm getting up to go skiing tomorrow morning, so i'm not going to argue this right now. you're wrong- it would be very easy for a motivated person (not me right now) to get ahold of ANY company's financial records. it's all public record and easily obtainable.

line skis binding a COMPLETE and UTTER failiure and waste of money...line almost bankrupt...coincidence?

you dont know what you are talking about.

Line skis are dope, and their bindings are working just fine for me. I full expect to break them, just as I have the salomons and the look and the rossi's all bindings break.

The invaders are the funnest ski ever, and I guarantee they will be very popular.

holy shit, you all have no idea what you're talking about. my dad's a fraud investigator- i could get them in the blink of an eye. that's not the point, though...

big, billion dollar corporations are protected by the government. sure, all companies are, technically, but if you are a company that provides a service (lots of money) to the government, you get very special protection. Line, like most small companies, is virtually completely unprotected in this regard. if they were to file a complaint or try to press charges if financial information was illegally obtained, they would have a hell of a time getting anywhere with it. furthermore, they have to hand over all financial information to the IRS for tax purposes (obviously). if you know what buttons to push there, you could get info about virtually any company. i never said anywhere that you could get the info LEGALLY, only that it is easily obtainable.

yeah, among other things. Ive heard at the ski shop i work at that they own a jacket company or something. I forget exactly, but they own something else.

i know, that's cheating. as i said, though- they're easily obtainable. if one of my buddies were to ask me to get them some info about Line or pretty much any other company, it wouldn't be hard for me to get it. seeing how i'm on the law school track, though, i'd rather just dirty my hands with stuff like underaged drinking and illegal possession of marijuana- not all sorts of fraud that would be involved with getting some small business' financial reports. getting caught drinking or with pot is pretty easily to plea bargain with and get your record cleared. fraud... not so much.

honestly. who cares about the "fraud" crap

they make skis. just lets try to keep it that way.

i love how anything these days has someone trying to bring in the law.

in case you missed the memo, it's the cool thing to do.

actually, when you commit multiple felonies every day, you tend to pay attention to that "law" shit. seriously, mailing a gladware container full of shit to my ex-roommate because i hate him so much is mail fraud- i could go to prison for that for up to 2 years or pay a $5,000 fine. it was so worth it, though...

yeah, see... i wouldnt know. im not clever enough to think of that crap

thats a funny idea though

Jack Handy had this quote about sticking a knife in a pumpkin, writing "you" on it, and putting it on someones doorstep. haha. i love paybacks

Thats some of the worst bullshit I have ever read. The members of Newschoolers never cease to amaze me...

Anyway, this thread is about Line Skis and it financial situation. Anyone with even the slightest amount of business background knows that Line doesn't have to report shit to the general public as a privately owned company. END OF STORY

you don't need to believe me, but whatever. there's no way i can prove it to you, but my dad's a CPA and a fraud investigator. believe whatever you want to believe.
