Line Sick Day 104 - beginner ski?

Hi, my wife has just started skiing and she really likes it. I can get a good deal on the Sick Day 104s and was wondering how they would work out for a beginner. She plans to use the mostly inbounds but also on a couple of tours each season.

Any thoughts?

Pretty wide for a beginner ski but not as bad a choice as some other people make

Do you think the 94 would be a good choice? And any thoughts on that for touring?

Pando 94 is a fantastic all mountain option. Not “touring specific” but the wood core that Line uses keeps the ski real light, it would be a great 50/50 ski

Thanks! But do you think its a good option for someone new to skiing?.

Yeah definitely, not super stiff but she won’t be wishing for more ski once she gets better

Maybe look at the liberty genesis line if touring is not a main focus , even if it is, how light ya really wanna go and sacrifice the downhill. The genesis is a much better all around ski,and easier to ski with more tip/tail rocker, actually what I just bought my wife to get her going, she was hating full camber rentals

Thanks for the input, but cant get hold of them over here in Norway.

don't overthink it too much especially for a beginner. it doesn't matter too much as long as you get the appropriate length. no difference in men's vs women's skis either except marketing

Mostly true. Blizzard is one of the only companies that i know off the top of my head that makes specific ski molds for women

Thanks for all thoughts! I decided to go for the Pandora with som Marker Squire for now and probably will change them for Atomic Shifts in the future.

those skis are just marketed towards women and no matter what you call it there is nothing gender specific about any ski

lots of skis have made the call to make a shape and then only market it to women, Blizzard has done this but they have also made ski shapes that they sell with multiple names and top sheets

Maybe in the past but Blizzard now makes gender specific skis, rather than just moving the mounting point foward on a shrunken mold.

yes they for sure did this in the past. The blizzard Samba for example was for years also marketed to men as the kabookie. I am not totally up to speed on the current Blizzard catalog but it is totally common for a company just to hedge their bets and pay for just one gender specific marketing campaign for a ski instead of two campaigns. If that campaign is just aimed at women then that is your women's specific ski and they can say we didn't just pink it and shrink it and give you a bunch of marketing stuff that they made up to tell you about why it is just for women. For example contouring the core or some such but that is really no different than Line saying we have a tigersnake in the core because they think kids find the word tigersnake appealing
