Line Reactor Bindings?

haha this thread defines fail

-wrong forum, not even close with site discussion
-bindings haven't been sold for 3 years
-no info whatsoever except about chronics

i deem this a fail

and to answer your question no there complete shit. and you wont be skiing anymore becasue you will have two broken knees. there deathtraps

yea right like reactors are gonna give you broken knees. its more like you wont be skiing because you wont stay attached to your skis

I know they were bricks and stood you up a foot off your skis, but did they actually perform poorly? They came and went so fast that I just assumed there was something inherently wrong with the way they worked. What was it?

they were big and bulky and extremely heavy. they were very prone to breaking and their mounting points were weird, the 4 pack or whatever, you needed an adapter plate if you wernt putting them on LINEs. i think thats a pretty close explanation to their demise.

I just couldn't resist this.

You didnt need a shop to mount them for you.. you just screwed them in with a screwdriver. Well.. unless you wanted a shop to test them for you, which is BS, because they wouldnt test right to begin with, i think.

I had them for 2 days for my old 1260s, and decided to return them. They kept getting loose, and they prereleased like MAAAAAAAAAD. They felt really cheaply made with light plastic and because I have a small BSL boot, they didnt fit very well on my boot at all and I think they even might have made me forward mounted on the skis.

I loved the idea that you could take them and have one binding for all your skis like with snowboarding, but for christ sakes! they sure fucked it up by making them so damn crappy!

The reason the reactor didn't hold you in was lateral heel release. Still today no binding has lateral heel release. The jester and reactor are not the same.

tis true. you cant really get much forward pressure with lateral heel release...

however, it is a novel concept.

i used to love my pair until they broke. if only they worked... 1 binding for all of your skis, different mounting options on your line skis... would have been awesome.

They had all the right ideas with the Reactor, but it's execution just didn't live up to the other good bindings on the market. The lateral heel release is awesome in theory, but forward pressure was always coming out of adjustment on the Reactor. Also, being able to have one pair of bindings for all your skis, and the six pack mounting system is still something I am incredibly interested in, unfortunately weight was a huge problem with the Reactor because of the mounting plates.

Line has had a few products which I think were sweet, but just didn't work out, didn't become popular. It is crazy that they had the balls to try and develop a binding.

Anybody remember the Line Transfer boot? I think it was based on an old flexon/Raichle design, but I am not sure. Again, they came close to maybe having success with this boot. Look at Full Tilt now...

the reason they failed was because they broke. the mounting point was a great idea, and that moving one binding from one ski to another is a great idea. they could not hold you in no matter what din they were at. and half of them broke pieces off so they were unusable. i sold my 1260s with them and surprisingly someone bought them. i saw the kid at my hill and he tried to do a 360 off a ridge and lost his skis. i felt bad because they did not stay in adjustment to your boot when they fell off.

Actually, there was a company called "Kneebinding" that won an award a SIA either this year or last. They have a lateral heel release, with springs both in the dildo heel and the lower heel (= more forward pressure.) Check them out athttp://www.kneebinding.net/ They're ugly as sin (I would imagine that they were designed entirely by engineers), but they just might work.

^ wow, that kneebinding concept sounds great, i just checked out their website and it looks legit. anyone know how those compare to look/rossi turntable bindings?

My guess is that they'll be very similar to the PX/Axial2 series. The toepiece is pretty similar, and the PXs have a second spring in the bottom of the heel for forward pressure. The kneebinding just uses it for release too.

I honestly believe that I own the only pair of working Reactor bindings....i have been using them on my invaders since they were a year old and only one of the brakes have bent, only problem i have had with them!!

er... wow.. you have the two biggest fails as far as line product of all time, and they are actually working?

first generation invaders + reactors... that ussually always meant failboat for both pieces..

he's in that gray area that when u combine two products that should self destruct, they magically hold up forever. its magic

and the jester is a combination of other bindings. the heel piece is taken from the axial2 design, and the two piece uses the sideways mounted spring from the reactor.

HAHA, and you have a mini disc as your icon! Get with the times man! We have these things, called mp3 players, ipods...might have heard of them.

Seriously though, more power to you if you can survive off reactor bindings and MD players.
