I want to get a big/mountain/pow ski for next season and was looking at the motherships.

The name is sick but the graphs just fail on every level! Any suggestions to alternatives

Im struggling cos im big. 6'4" 200lbs.

+K for help

Thanks

Whats wrong with the graphics?

Anyway, prophet 130, armada ant, moment comi-kazi, salomon rocker or czar, volkl kuro or katana.

Just to throw a few out there maybe some people will be more specific on those as i have never ridden any of them. And even if i did i'm small.

i think its the volkl katana that has almost eh exact same shape as the mothership, i think the tip is like 1mm wider, but i would bet that it is a very similar ski to the mothership. line and volkl are both owned by k2 so they are most likely close tot eh same ski

Have you seen them in person? I wasn't crazy about the graphics until I did. They've got a really nice handcrafted look. Almost antique. And the motherships are very butch, but at the same time forgiving because of the sidecut. They charge harder than the katanas.

-the katana and mothership cant be the same.

-the mothership graphic is the wood, the sidewall, some steeze and the metal. if there is something wrong with that then i donno what to tell you

-i have over 100 days on the 185 mothership, best ski ever. i just put dukes on them and im looking to get the 195 for my daily ski next year.

im 5.10 165lbs and dont jib anymore.

Im not planning on jibibing them. I just want a ski for charging on.

I havent seen the graphic no, it just looks a bit plain but i will make a point of looking at them in person when the 09/10 model is out.

Quite like the idea of the armadas.

I would recommend the mothership in a 195 for what you describe. They charge super hard and pretty much don't have a speed limit. The slight early rise in the tip and rearward mount destroys crud and makes them floats well.
As far as the graphics go, I think they are sick. Take a look in person and i think that you'll change your mind.

motherships sound like a suitable ski for you, and if you're looking for a bit more versatility, blends and prophet 100's are good chargers too.

Cheers man, i skied the prophet 90s this season and they are pretty solid. Just a bit shorter (186) and thinner. Hopefully the mothers will handle the same but just be fatter in every way!

I have also skied the prophet 90 and while they are wicked all mountain they are too narrow for deep pow and crud. I wouldn't say the motherships ski the same way. They are a lot more ski and like long radius turns. In theory, the subtle early rise should make them ski a little shorter than 195 but it's hard to tell. Not the best ski for making quick turns in trees but in the open they will plow through everything in any condition and go as fast as you are willing to go.
If you want a ski that handles the same as the 90 but fatter try the 100. It's a little bit softer than the 90 but other than that it is pretty close.

The Armada Ants are an awesome ski!! definitely consider them although they probably won't be as good in powder as the motherships but they do have a way better graphic.

motherships slay! don't worry about the graphics. they'll grow on you anyway. i used ants for two seasons preceding my boarding of the mothership. while the ants are awesome skis, they aren't quite as burly as the mothership. and the mo'ship is a good bit wider so it is a way better pow ski. fuck the graphics, man. the mothership is one of the gnarliest big mountain skis you can buy.
