Line model changes... ???

The search only providing 50 results and searching only titles for string literals has put a damper on my getting to the bottom of this...

It looks to me like the Line Chronics are identical between 04/05 and 05/06 except for the graphics, and the same goes for the 04/05 Skogens compared to the 05/06 Chronic Wides.

Am I missing something here?

Like the last season's Assassin MTX appears to have morphed into the new Prophet 80 for instance.

Yup. this would seem to be correct. That is why Line kinda pisses me off, they are doing everything they can think of to scrape in extra cash.

^ how because they changed the graphics and just made the same ski? umm a lot of companies do that from year to year

Think before you post! Most companies do this. You honestly want a ful revamp of the entire line up every year? You obviously have no idea how the industry works so please shut it and go skiing.

Where did all the LINE Assassins come from that are on Ebay? Is it from last year and no longer continued?

Yeah they got rid of the freeride assassin series and changed it to prophets so now they have 3 prophets for all freeride conditions.

Actually, Shadow's are the same as the chronic dimensions. But they do have a different core, no ollieband, etc.

you're an idiot the shadow is from the chronic mold and it has a poplar core.

And the Celebrity is from the Mothership mold.

In general Everyones main park ski this year is almost exactly the same as last year.

05 AR5= 06 AR5

05 T Hall= 06 T Hall

05 Fujative= 06 Fujative

05 1080= 06 Thruster

05 Chronic= 06 Chronic

05 STL= 06 STL (dimensions same but 06 is stiffer)

Every ski brand keeps a ski for at least 2-3 seasons end of story. Salomon averages 5 years for their more popular models.

i personally think this years chronics are stiffer than last years...the would be the only diff...to me

some of you guys are retarded, line put out 4 brand new skis this year, the invader, phophet 130 , phrophet 100 and the elizibeth, thats alot of work, stop whining

Watch your mouth boy. I have no problem with a company reusing a ski, I do have a problem when they rename it and everything to make it seem like a new product. Rossi used there same basic scratch fs for years, and put new graphics on it, fine I dont give a shit. But what they didn't do was call it a brand new model in an attempt to drive up sales.

Pretty sure the Assasin from last year and the prophet 80 are the same ski but I don't understand why this pisses you off? They are trying to "brand" themselves in a very image driven sport and trying to make money at the same time. Whats wrong with a small company like Line trying to make a little cash? Do you expect companies to re-tool all their molds every year?

The same reason Rossi used the same ski for years is the same reason other companies mask old models and sell as new. FOR MONEY! and company growth.

I see where you are coming from but other companies are way more guilty of pushing the same ski over and over. The big companies are scared of change cause they sell so many skis.

Unrelated... Funny I have been called a lot worse than "boy" but man that really got to me. Nice work!

Actually this years rossi scratch is new and the sprayer is like last years scratch so they did change the name.

why should it even matter to you, you yourself are stating that they are similar if not identical skis. you know that because line gives you all the information. they don't hide all of the stats on all the skis from you so you can't figure it out. you should research skis by everything besides the graphics, and shouldn't buy a ski because of it's name.

personally i have no clue why they have to change skis EVERY year, just do like cars, update only soo often. I would be soo much more excited to see new skis.

They don't have to change every year. Everybody seems to be interpreting me incorrectly. I just think that by changing the name of a ski that is exactly the same as another model, and selling it as something new is a desperate attempt to lure uneducated buyers into spending money.

Thank you...someone finally understands what I am trying to say. The people on this site know like every spec about every ski, and know the model changes from year to year. The average consumer though, isn't going to know. I believe this is taking advantage of the customers, and making them spend twice as much for a new product when they could just buy the prior years.

they arent the same every year, companies usually tinker a bit with the flex or constuction to make them more durable, light and responsive
