I had rumor to line skis manufacturing their skis in china next year insted of cowanasville, qc. Is that true or just a dumb rumor, it would make line's inexpensive like k2's

well they end up producing better skis in china, because theres thousands of other people who would kill to have a job in those factories, so the ones who have it need to work hard and make good quality product to keep thier jobs, and its cheaper for us, so really its a win win situation. yea ive heard that also, im pretty sure its true.

Outsourcing makes shit cheaper but it takes away the jobs from the people who were already working, which is bad for the economy. China should create its own jobs rather than taking those of other countries. If everything is outsourced there will be no jobs for us. If u think about it You can't really name a company which makes everything in america maybe a few. Outsourcing has its ups and downs.

 
yes, line skis will be produced in Asia..will it make the consumer pay less? who knows..but the assassin will be a very consumer friendly price so, could be due to asia

the guys workin in Quebec will go to China for 6 to 12 months to train them on buildin skis...so its not like they lost their jobs..they'll maybe end up gettin a better job there

 
not every single person will go to train only maybe a few. and why would they want a Job in China I mean even if the job is better most people wouldnt want to go to a country that they dont know learn a language that they dont know and leave their friends and family.

It will take away some jobs from America and piss of alot of people.

hopefully they will drop the prices but thats not a guarantee they might just have a higher profit

i know for a fact that they are producing the skis in china. that is a solid fact. but unlike k2, line will only be producing the skis in china. all their main offices will remain where they are. the skis won't be any worse because they're made in china, they'll just be cheaper.

It's really only outsourcing Canadian jobs, so I'm not sure what the Americans in this thread are complaining about.

And...K2 is still run out of Vashon, just production is in China, I think.

k2 is still based in vashon i know this for a fact.

And it is outsourcing canadian jobs not american jobs every american line employee will not be going anywhere. plus all the people that manufacture line skis are kahru manufactures

The reason that production is cheaper in china is the fact that they currently have a quickly industrializing ENORMOUS population. There is more competition in chinese labor markets, which pushes wages down and we get cheaper manufactured goods. Outsourcing is a huge deal for many American manufacturing jobs (mostly auto and steel workers). Line was sold to a company who sought to benefit from outsourcing production to Asia in light of the quickly rising quality of production versus the not so quickly rising Chinese wage rate. Canadian ski makers might have some room to complain, but instead of complaining they should just take their skill set to another ski company whose production remains in Canada or perhaps Europe. Even better, they could collectively start their own company, claiming that their skis are better because theyre not made in China. The only people who really have anything to complain about here are the Chinese workers that would be paid an order of magnitude more if they lived in the states.

That said, line does fucking suck because I break their skis and they wont replace them.
