Line bindings and the struggle to re-shape ski retail.

^this guy makes a good point, in fact the only point agains the reactor. If they can make it lighter and more like a conventional binding but keep the 4 hole insert, then ill buy a pair, but thats quite a task.
 
I give props to line for innovation. The one thing I have a problem with the reactor is the break. It did not solve the problem of switch releases which destroy more breaks than any thing else. when I first heard about the binding years ago I hoped the would address this obvious problem. I was disapointed. needless to say I feel the binding skis great.
 
Integrated binding systems actually change the way a ski works for the better. The flat spot is virtually gone with most of the systems, which makes a big difference for people who carve. Ski retail includes a larger demographic of people than just jibbers. I'm sure that most ski companies recognize this segment of the skiing community, and if they felt that it would be a good investment in catering to largely broke guys from 10 - 25 for the most part, they would, but business wise, that would be hard. Oh, and there has been integrated binding systems for freesking, head/tyrolia had that fliperdoodle thing out a few years ago.
 
You aren't very smart, are you? Why are you complaining about the Look P14's breaking?

Everyone knows that those break. Get a pair of P18's or Salomon s916's, both of those bindings are worlds better than anything that Line, 4FRNT or any other "newschool" binding company will ever have to offer. Don't argue with years of trusted bindings, and quit whining about how "newschool" companies need to start making bindings/boots. You're the kind of person that will buy an Armada or Ninthward boot the second it comes out. You will secretly hate it and bitch about it in your mind, but here on NS, you will praise it like none other even though it sucks, just because its "progressive" or "newschool". Go ahead and ski the Line binding, no one is stopping you, go buy a poorly designed boot, no one is stopping you, go buy some "newschool" poles, no one is stopping you. Have fun with some poorly designed gear while I ski past you with my Gotamas, Salomon s916's, and Sally Pro Model boots.

I may be supporting "the enemy" by buying these products, but face it, they're better than the fucking Line boot, or the absolutely pathetic Line binding. Also, while we're on the topic, Volkl owns all newschool companies.

Who are the older family guys 10 20 years from now. build an alliance now and who knows?
 
I think that a huge problem with Line's binding is their customer support. Twice i have tried to buy their bindings, the first time, after two months of waiting for the bindings not showing up i gave up. Last year i tried again and they broke the first day, skiing on the groomer on the way to the park. Then, Line didnt even know that their gear was sold by the local shop where i tried to get my shit fixed. New technology takes time, but you have to have the capacity to support it first!
