hey guys im just wondering if i should gat afterbangs or chronics and also what size i should get.

any ideas are appreciated. thanks.

i know i am speaking for alot of people here but first we need to know what type of riding you do afterbangs are strictly park skis and chronics are all mountain...what are you looking for(percentage of park vs all mtn)

If you're looking for a soft, springy, more rail-oriented ski then go with the Afterbang. But i'd recommend going with the chronics seeing as you only spend 80% of your time in the park. The chronics will still perform amazing in the park and will destroy the Afterbangs at all mountain. Just my 2 cents

chronics for sure...i do like 60 park 40 all mount an i love them...i mounted mine -2 from center but if your going to be doin more park you might wanna center mount em even though there not a 100% cemetrical they have symetrical flex

I wouldn't get the Afterbangs simply because it's the first year they are out and you should see how they do in the public for a season. hope that makes sense.

my chronics fell apart my sidewalls chipped up super fast and i didnt really like how they performed, afterbangs seem like a solid ski and have had wicked reviews, id try something new go with the afterbang itll perform well, as for size your weight and height would be a nice thing to know but i ride my skis long as a lot of others do im sure they are nicely over my head
hope it helps

id have to agree with flashkick.....do poles really matter? you just need two small sticks to keep you in balance, if you even need them that is, go with whats cheap itll help your savings

I'd also seriously consider Anthems if I were you. Amazing park ski with a bit wider waist that can handle pow (not well, but it'll do) when you're not in the park.

you can trust this guy hes actually sked these even though theres no snow yet where hes from.

get chronics because only a bo$$ rides them and every year they are better looking than all. and theyre not going to suck and theyr not going to be worse than afterbangs

I've only had a few days on my afterbangs this season but from what I can tell they're a really sick ski. I've been skiing preseason park and hardpack manmade groomers. They're soft but not complete noodles, they've got a real lively pop to them and they're way snappier than invaders. Definitely helps with the all mountain performance. They stay rigid enough to actually ski but when you want to, it's super easy to butter. They've been handling really well on rails too...which was expected. Curious to see how these things ride when some decent jumps get built.

I have both pairs of skis but have only skied on my Afterbangs. To me they feel super soft and definately more of a rail ski. I don't expect them to perform well at all on jumps seeing as the slightest backseat landing makes them flex so much it's hard to stay in control. The chronics will have a way better flex and feel on jumps and all around the mountain.

they're not as soft as you may think. i like way stiff skis, though, so i dig chronics (especially kryponites because of the extra width).

I would say it's more a jump than rail ski. But they aren't bad on rails at all!

They are pretty stiff, so it is a bit hard to do butters and stuff.

yeah, i have the 08/09 chronics and the edges have slightly started to brake, but its no major injury at all. Another thing you sshould think about is the sole is rock solid.

dude, my afterbangs came yesterday and on the card that came with them it says this:

0%powder 20%all-MTN 80%park

they really aren't as much noodle as people say, maybe they will get there though

most of the videos i have seen of guys hitting jumps on afterbangs they look like they fold unless you stomp dead center of um

go with the chronics

(and try not to over bump a thread that should have been searchbared in the first place)

i tried the searchbar and i got nothing...

also read reviews but i thought i should just ask all the guys on NS anyway.

I got my chronCryptonites in the mail a week ago. I was looking for a stiffer ski anyways so they are perfect. the card said 20% Pow/ 40% Park/ %40 All-Mtn

im looking for park and jibbing skis for fun on groomers and in park.

i think chronics because they are lighter and i hear alot of good thing about them :)

I just skied the 08/09 Chronics and liked them, but the flex points are right at the bindings. So if you like to do mad butters and play around on rollers, then I'd go with the Abangs. But The Chronic is still a badass ski.

I have the 08-09 chronic and i just got the 166 afterbangs BEST SKI EVER!

The side wall on the cronics breaks down super easy and butters are pretty hard because they are so stiff. the Afterbang however has hard bases and the maple wood is very durable and also light witch also make this ski an excellent ski to any kind of spins. I rode them today for the first time and was very impressed with the overall handling of the ski. Great ski i would go with the Afterbang if i were you just because the cronic is a little heavier stiffer and falls apart its kinda annoying.
Hope you make the right choice!

what kind of crack are you smoking? change your icon too asshole. OP id go anthems. suprisingly awesome at all mtn and kills in the park. super fun ski fo-sho.

This is a tough decision dude, really should break it down though. With the chronics yoru really looking at a tried and proven all mountain ski, i loved mine to death and after getting 08 invaders,I seriously( even still) wish i would have gone with chronics instead( i also ski about 80% park and 20% all-mountain) The chronics are alsobeefy from my experience ,although some did say they had issue's with the sidewalls( i cant really vouch for this, ive had no troubles) As for the after bangs your looking at totally new technology that has not really been around enough to give it the thumbs up or thumbs down yet( although it has been 4 years in the making so this does tell you something about its credibility) Also it is 20% allmountain and 80% park ski, which is exactly what your looking for, but your realyl still getting more of a rail ski. There have been some outstanding reviews on the afterbang but ive also heard people who werent too happy with them because of chipping and what not.

Alternatively, you could look at anthems. There wide underfoot makes up for the softness of the ski and gives you a still very fun ski on rails (just like invaders/ afterbangs) but it really holds its own on jumps and everywhere else on the mountain. i might not recomend it if you live on the east because the wideness of the ski mixed with icy conditions isnt always such a good combo but i stil know people out here who shred on them.

You cant really go wrong to be honest, both of those skis( or all three if you consider the anthem) are good for what your looking for, either way youll have a good time on the ski's and your going with line which means great customer service.

Hope this helped.
