Line across my finger?

So I jammed my finger playin catch after school today. Typical dumbfuck move, didn't think much of it, went home and put it on ice. It was hard as rock and its not getting much better. I'm not worried, except I'd like to know what I have a bruise in the shape of a line across my finger. I goes around most of the side opposite the nail, perfect ring. I already feel like a dumbfuck but somebody please tell me this stupid thing will go away when I wake up.
 
I wanted the check WebNS, as WebMD says that bruising may be sign of a fracture. If I can move it fine (except for what the swelling restricts) I will just tape it, it can't be that bad. I feel like a dumbfuck though.
 
u should of when u jammed it first started pulling on it repeatedly until it felt better thats what i do when i get one at football practice try that if not give it time
 
I did pull on it really good (every joint popped) about 5 minutes after I did it. My 8th grade gym teacher said that was a load of crap though. I don"t really care that much. I just don't dig the line.

Sort of related, but I have a vertical brown stripe in the middle of my pointer fingernail. I have no idea how it got there, it's been there for years, and it is really crazy...
 
sorry to state the obvious, but... i'm pretty sure that your doctor would be able to give you better information than a bunch of freestyle skiiers on NS.

it sounds like you might have broken it though. if you cant move it, and its bruising.. it could potentially be broken. i have broken 2 fingers and my thumb, and those are the symptoms i had each time.
 
if you ever go to the doctor for a broken finger please go kill yourself. that would be the worlds greatest waste of money and waste of time.

and actually no, why would you want to have a fucked up finger for the rest of your life?
 
I realize that NS is not the place for advice. I was just fishing for that key "Oh shit that happened to me once" person who would know what was going on. I agree it is probably broken, as the perfect ring and persistent bruising look like the work of a fracture. It is obviously stable, and if it heals like this its gonna be fine. I am not about to go to the doctor to wait in a room for an x ray, and have a guy come over after more waiting and hand me a splint. My mom is gonna pick up a splint tomorrow, it's taped right now.
 
uhhh not really? go to a walk in clinic to at least get it set back so it doesnt heal kinked... i didnt do anything about it when i broke my finger and now its permanantly kinked until i go to get it rebroken
 
Yeah but was your finger at an angle or something? Mine can't be much more than a hairline, its perfectly straight and such, except for a slight size difference it matches my other one.
