i currently use limewire but after all the shit that has been going on (people getting fines) i dont know if i should still be using it.... any suggestions?

i did have ares....but i switched to limewire...and i kinda hate limewire but my security system on my computer wont allow ares back....so i just move all my downloaded files out of the limewire folder and in to a different one that way so if i get caught they cant say i got thos songs from limewire..... at least thats what i figured anyway

i heard about the copyright thing in canada So are people in canada getting fined for illegal downloads or is this going on in the US too?

i no like a year ago a bunch of kids at purdue (which is like 40 miles south of me) were gettin in trouble and either had to pay like 700$ a song or 3grand for everything (idk if the $$$ is the right amount but it was somthin like that) they got from limewire but i think it was on the campus network so that may be y they found them... idk

I used to use Limewire, which was a total pain in the ass, and then tried uTorrent, which was so much better with quicker downloads and actually being able to download by album. If you want a better program, switch to bitTorrent, and I think you are less likely to be fined because the info is sent in packets from many different people, instead of a single file, making it impossible to trace it to the person that uploaded it.

Well those kids are just plain retarded because Purdue has its own P2P network called Dtella and you can't get in trouble for using that.

thanks for the advice i just downloaded bit torrent i was using limewire and had no problems whatsoever with it but dont want to take the risk of getting fined

Yeah, on my computer, limewire pops up as I turn it on. I never use it, so I uninstalled it and searched my hard drive for files and deleted them....and it still pops up.

huh...neva heared of that..... i just remember seeing that a bunch of students got in trouble in the laffeyette** paper

yeah my brother told me about it. All the people in his computer science classes were cracking up because they all have hundreds of gigs of music and movies they didn't pay for. The people who got caught were just really really stupid.

dont use limewire, use http://file2hd.com you can get sll the songs on myspace, which is quite a few, but of course there are some songs you cant get because they arent on there. oh and right click save as on the low quality version and it should work. if it doesnt try it again

ya my dad comes down and acts all smart about computer crap because he read it in the paper {even though i have to do everything like typing checking his email and getting him on the enternet} so i was like okay and deleted the i con but not the program

frostwire is like limewire pro its sick and free

-all you have to do to not get fined is to stop "sharing"

your music

to do that, go to the limewire library, right click on a song and hit "stop sharing file"

dude, download azeurus or bitlord or utorrent or something and find yourself a nice torrent site, dont use and of the 'wire' programs or any of that other 'kazaa' like software, torrents will allow you to download more stuff faster and with less chances of getting yourself a virus or something.

if you want a song and its on ANY MYSPACE ARTIST PROFILE, copy the url, go to file2hd.com, and paste the url in the box, click "agree to terms of service", and click audio only files. then press"get files" button. then right click on the song under low quality and save link as.

thats how its done

im pretty sure as long as u are carful about ti and dont run it through like a public network like a college wifi or something like that than u should be fine but then again i rly dont know i just know that my teachers son got caught at college on the colleges internet and was fucked

I think you're more likely to get in trouble for sharing. Just go into the options and remove all the folders from the sharing options.

I'd recommend using torrents to. If you have a semi-decent internet connection it's just as easy to download stuff... with a huge variety and it's always quality.

Actually, using torrents is more risky than limewire, because you show your ip address when you download or upload. The only way that people get caught is by using these programs where they have been told not to use them, like colleges, and schools. Torrents are definately much better than limewire, and you really shouldn't worry about being caught downloading.

how does that even make sense to you, if you dont share you cant get a virus...

well considering you would have to download something infected with one to get it, how would sharing files so other people can download them get you a virus? not sharing will keep you off the riaa/mpaa's watch list maybe, but it has absolutly nothing to do with you getting or not getting a virus. wow.

I did that when I used to use Limewire...didn't do shit. About once a week I would check for viruses with Spybot after I downloaded Limewire Pro, and I still got 10-15 per week. I switched to uTorrent, and get about 2 -3 per month.
