lil wayne is so overrated. everyone just loves him now for some reason. most of his raps consist of this "im lil wayyyyyne, im gettin juicy, girls wanna do me, yeaaaaaa" its not even rapping. he just says random shit. Nick Mantinis KOS video inspired me to make this thread becuase i didnt even like his video because of his music selection. even tho it is one of lil wayne better attempts at rapping.

i hope some of you agree with me. even tho i know im gonna get hundreds of people saying that im an idiot. but please listen to the substance and intelligence and skill of tupac and then tell me lil wayne is any where close to as good of a rapper.
 
i had no idea people liked little wayne. you just made the world look a whole lot more pathetic by telling me that.

So true, his lyrics suck, they are random words that rhyme. He's not even close the the best rapper alive, which he claims so fucking hard. And 40 bucks for a concert? Fuck that atmosphere was 20, slug is 1000 times better than lil wayne.
 
i gotta agree with you, most of his songs that he thinks is good arent.but i gotta give him props for doing a bunch of syrup and making songslike "exquisit" that shit is ballin to listen to while your baked
 
Word. Ive been trying to convince all my friends at school that he is not even close to being "the best rapper" but they wont listen to me because they said he was on mtv and aaahhhhhhhhbviously they are correct.
 
idk apparently the radio stations that i listen to play a lot more lil wayne than most. and guys dont get me wrong im not a "hater" i just wanted to see what everyone else thought because you have to admitt lil wayne has grown im popluarity tremendously this year.
 
ehhh i have a lot of his songs, they're catchy, i like them, but i do agree that most of his lyrics have no meaning whatsoever except for simple rhyming... he's definitely not the best rapper alive though. hes claiming it so hard its funny

but really, a sage word of advice, never, ever, under any circumstances listen to Lil' Wayne if you're looking for anything close to intelligent lyrics. I only listen to him when I wanna get pumped (Not my first choice of get pumped music, but it'll do if I need something) or something depending on my mood.

But IMO his best line is:

"cus bitch I'm the bomb like tick-tick"

i think that line is pretty ill

this is like the 50th thread on this, get a fucking life. you and half the people on this site hate lil wayne, and someone has to make a thread about how much he sucks every week for the past year or two.

so in conclusion, what an astounding revelation you've made! by the way I think most non-mainstream rap sucks and is just as pretentious and lame as the indie scene. i don't even take rap seriously anyways, but if I did, I'd have the brains to notice than plenty of non-mainstream rappers write incredibly shitty lines as well.
 
lil wayne sucks ass. he is a homo. he cant rap for shit and its really more hip hop and yes there is a difference. he can be compared to a volkswagon. little, shitty, not that cool, extremely overated. im not gonna tell you who you should listen to, but Dre and other affilates with NWA are the best, also Nas.

well, no shit Tupac isn't where it started, but Tupac is possibly the best example of where it came from- nobody did it like him before he started rapping, nobody's done it like him since he died. there's a reason he's widely agreed to be the best MC of all time. if you want to find the true soul of hip hop, look to Tupac.

just cause people listen to him doesnt mean they dont like good hip hop. i fucking love the roots, krs one, zion i, etc. but sometimes you just wanna listen to ridiculous music. thats when the young jeezy, lil wayne, ti, etc get busted out
 
What people need to realize is that not all rap HAS to have a message. Why do I want to hear about how bad everything is in the hood while im having fun snowboarding? You walk into a party and immortal technique is playing, can you dance to that? More importantly would anyone want to hear that while dancing? Lay of lil wayne, he makes a certain kind of music, just respect what he does dont trash it just because you think everything needs a message and needs to be core
 
Lil' Wayne is a minimalist. He free associates. He has more in common with Ghostface and Cam'ron than he does with other commercially successful rappers, in that he has a "stream of consciousness" approach to writing verses. The shift in his career is unbelievable and completely unparalleled.

Wayne is brilliant because he can write pop songs and hedonist drug addled ballads of self-destruction in the same sitting.

Frankly, I think he's a nice counterpoint to the overly self-righteous, pretentious, and pseudo-intellectual emcees that some of you have listed as "real hip-hop".

saying something that is "the most overrated (fill in the blank)" is so overrated.

i thought some of tha carter and tha carter III were alright. Some of it was foregettable, too, but certainly nowhere near the claim of "most overrated ever."

save that when it could really mean, rather than being the polar-opposite, anti-whatever.
